why did you clean up the intake valves? Is there an issues with them mate? I'm thinking of getting a Mk2 so the info would be useful.

Looks a smart car btw.

I didn't have a problem but it was preventative maintanence as high mileage tfsi's start to have problems usually if the valves arnt cleaned, if you search 2.0tfsi problems its quite widely known as a problem

Can't decide if I like the honeycomb or not :)

How much were they Trev? Maybe it's the combo of them, with the std chrome grille?

  • Author

I know what you mean I've seen them with a black grill and a colour coded one on a blue one, can't decide what looks the best, around 150 for both not cheap

Looking very tidy. I'm sure this has been asked before, but with that honeycomb upper grille, how do you get to the bonnet release catch?

  • Author

Stick your fingers through or under the grill once its popped still easy to do, you have to cut down the release to get the grill to fit

Not great design though is it? For an aftermarket part, it's not as if they wouldn't have been aware of the issue.

That's what puts me off about one TBH.

No other way of getting a the honeycomb design to work though with how the release mechanism works, its no big deal chopping it

this getting hit with a lowering stick soon?

this getting hit with a lowering stick soon?

hoping so, holding out for some second hand coilys as i dont want to go for something cheap, ive been spoilt with kw's ive had on previous cars

So how low are you thinking? Or will it be a case of what looks right?

Won't be stupid low, but needs to be coilovers really as most springs I've seen don't go low enough for me, I will have to see what works round here as there are a lot of speed bumps but I have usually gone to around two fingers gap between wheel and arch on previous octy and Fabia, and they were fine

Ooh I've just brought some suspension, :)

Oooh what suspension did you get? Really like the grilles similar to the custom job I did on my Fabia :)

Some koni adjustable shocks and h&r -50mm springs only six months old had a right result, so around a 30-35mm drop on a vrs these will do till I can afford 500+ on coilovers

Nice! Will give a decent enough drop :)

Got my new suspension :) adjustable koni shocks set them to medium for the minute, don't know when I'll get a chance to fit them yet though

Suspensions on :) feels really really good, the shocks are set of middle firmness and are no harder then my last octy on coilovers new top mounts all round, the drop is just right, two fingers gap front and rear now, I'll get some decent pics tommorrow

I'll do some measurements in a few days once it's fully settled, already looks good, these are -50mm h&r springs so as the vrs is around 12mm-15mm lower it should be around 35mm drop

After

Nice height, cant stand super low cars, its impractical and handles worse than a standard car.

Sits well. Mine isnt stupidly low and it still catches some of the plastics on speed bumps.
