downloading malware to a disc

Featured Replies

is it possible to download a free malware program to a disc to remove a virus thats locked up my comp? if so any recomendations?

To boot from?

Normally I use a USB stick and then run it in safe mode. Can you get to safe mode?

No safe mode is Not working either. Got one of them met police ransom malware viruses, totally messed it up

Some of these police malware viruses are not removable, since they encrypt some of the system files in such a way that the computer will not start in safe mode. Some versions also encrypt any documents found on the HDD, meaning that if the malware is removed these documents become inaccessible. If this has already happened then the malware cannot be cleanly removed and will require you to reinstall the OS and software from scratch, and then restore your files from a backup.

if your lucky you have a simple variant that does nothing and is easily removed, use something like a linux live CD and then an online scanner from within Linux, like trend housecall for example and scan the windows drive using that.

Thanks for that mate

We had this issue at work recently, locked machine and asked the user to pay a fine. I created a Kesperky rescue boot disc on a different machine.

Will see if I can find the instructions for you

found it, this is what I used
