vRS Estate - Lowering Springs Fitted

Featured Replies

If I can haggle the price of them with my dealer I'll do it. The costs of springs isn't a problem it's the fitting costs

I paid £100 fitted as well as Harry on here with his vrs. Both have been spot on.

You don't need to realign if done properly. Skoda wanted nearly £300!!!!

I would think fitting the springs and the arb is something anyone with reasonable spannering experience could do themselves.

Failing that,as stated, about £100 should be enough for your small local garage to do the job.

Better still,if like me you have a friend in the trade,I'm sure he would do it in his own time for £50 cash in hand.

You do need to realign !! Mine needed quite a bit of adjustment on the front

+1 the angle of the steering tie rod will change, with upward or downward angling the tie rods reduce the space between wheel and rack. Although seemingly only a little it could be as much as 5mm toe out now, enough to munch away your tyres sharpish.

+2 - tyre munching galore!

I presume it's just a tracking adjustment needed...nothing to do with camber or castor?

tracking usually all, but when really really low, the wishbone continues at same arc but strut top angle gets steeper and results in top of wheel cambering in

Agreed, but I was really asking about the Skoda approved Eibach springs with just the 20mmm drop...not enough to require camber correction?

camber should be unaffected

If I was changing springs for lowered ones I'd certainly go for full tracking. I cannot see from posts here any 100% advice that nothing needs to be done. Cost of new tyres otherwise chewed away by wrongly tracking wheels pays for it manyfold :)

I had the full geometry check done on mine , as I said it did need an adjustment to the tracking but nothing else was affected
