Dealer using wrong oil?

Featured Replies

Treat yourself to a Haynes manual, trolley jack, axle stands, and a basic tool kit, torque wrench etc all for christmas...........

.........and save yourself lots of worry, stress, etc.......... B)

If you want a job doing properly...............do it yourself........

Agreed & have done so for many years as that way I ensure what goes in ;)

I did say to them when I booked it in that the car has been run on longlife 5w30 oil for practically all of it's 140k miles. and only uses around 200ml every 5000. Anyway yup all sorted now and I'm off round Scotland tomorrow for a few days so another 700miles + going on the car by the weekend - Just glad I've got the right oil in! Not good at all for them as a Skoda dealer ;)

The only problem with doing it yourself is you won't get a bit of ink in the service book.

I get a garage to change the oil, but I buy and give them the bottle of oil (Millers XFE-PD).

I put ink in mine myself, all receipts stapled in. What more would you want when buying a car?

Especially from what's been seen in this thread

Agreed for most cars but my old girl is virtually self maintained, much of which derives from budget necessity. Any prospective purchaser will be able to see exactly how she's been maintained under my watch & has full history to that point. It's all relative ;)
