Britain’s cheapest car goes on sale next year, for the same price as go-faster stripes on a Ferrari.

The new Dacia Sandero will cost from just £5,995 when it arrives in the UK in January, a similar amount to some luxury options on the world’s priciest cars.

I know it's going to be the top of the range with extras but the blue one pictured actually looks not too bad I think.

There is a bit of Polo in there and a bit of Fabia. Doesn't look too French I'd say apart from the interior which looks like it's made of cheap lego.

I have to promote this car for work. Aswell as the duster if Any one wants any info please let me know I will give you info specs etc not that interesting tho. Ha

Clio 3 base only engine it shares is the NON turbo 1.2 75bhp engine top top spec is still less than 9£k :) it also has a 1.0 3cyl turbo 90bhp

Should this be the new reasonably priced car on Top Gear? Mr May always goes on about the Dacias in the news items.

No. Simply because the most powerful version is 3cyl 90bhp....... It's a very reasonable small car but to be honest at £8,995 for a top spec sandero and seein them I'd rather spend the extra money on getting a much better Clio for the same spec at £12k or even better get a full decked out fabia Vrs... The new Vrs should be the reasonably priced car! As the tue cee'd cost about £13k lol

I had the Renault version of the Sandero hire car in South Africa last year. I ordered a 1.4 Polo (or similar) the 1.6 Sandero was truly awful to drive. Gutless, noisy with poor handling & vague steering.

They dint do the 1.6 any more but tbh I'm not supprized haha the Renault Logan is the older sandero cheap is cheap for a reason I suppose. Hahaha

Is it getting renault's new three pot? I thought Dacia would get the "cast off" older spec engines such as the 1.2 16v and the 1.5 dci (good well proven engines). I think it is a great little car for the money but I have seen Dacias on the continent for years. My cousin in France has a Logan 1.5 dci as the family beast of burden and it does the job well.

The 1.5dci is a good engine unless you're a town driver. They like to explode if you don't give them a good run.

I did 80k in a 100hp version and it never missed a beat and got 60+ mpg whilst getting a good thrashing.

The rest of the car was a utter pile of disintegrating pish but the engine was a cracking little unit.

Yeah still gets the highly underpowerd 1.2 16v 75bhp engine that couldnt pull the skin off rice pudding but it's the actual way there put together... But I do say they will sell well because the spec they offer for the price is more and ample! And there not the worst looming things haha

Are you saying the way they are put together as in build quality is bad? I think the 900cc turbo sounds quite a bit of fun :)

The quality very hard cheap plastics but u can't complain at those prices!!
