New Fabia 1.6TDI - Which BHP ?

Featured Replies

when I look at the Monte I got a quote for all engine sizes and power and the premiums were the same no matter what engine I chose? a re-map however would have cost me only an extra £40 on the 105Bhp but a full S2000 body kit wouild have been free???? (never did pursue that one as I'm sure the adviser got it wrong?

It may well do but my current Fabia is mapped and i have not told them about that, i do understand though that even changing alloys is something that could increase your insurance premiums or adding on bigger tyres than standard is another modification, i guess the trick is to ensure if its ever in an accident where you need an assessor to come that its back to standard by then.... easily done as my auto '' bod '' has my standard mapping already on a pen drive should i need to reflash the ECU..... I get its illegal but all the insurance companies will do with the information is take more cash from my pocket.... no thanks.

Not wishing to **** on your bonfire here, but who is this super mapping dude? The CR TDi ECU has only just been cracked by REVO and they have a considerable amount of resource behind them. Many of the smaller independent tuners still don't have anything available for the 1.6 be it 75 / 90 / 105.

Flashing it back from a pendrive is pure *******s at the moment. It's daft not to declare it to your insurance as well, think of the bigger picture, you have an accident, you injure a 3rd party, your insurance is voided, you have to stump up for loss of earnings / personal injury claims / repairs to the 3rd party's vehicle etc etc etc......

Not a wise idea :-)

The mapping i have had done is not, of course, on the new fabia (as i have not bought it yet hence this post) but to my Mk1 Fabia, which was a very easy thing to do indeed and has made a massive positive difference to how the car drives and performs (and this was on a pendrive placed from one comptuer to his '' mapping pc '') i know there are problems with the mapping on the new Fabia at the moment so i have decided to wait until after any Skoda warranty period is over before mapping the car, by then of course all this will be old hat as it will have been done years before, the mapping affecting my warranty is more of a concern to me than my insurance policy, so waiting the 3 year warranty period then having it mapped it probably the way i will go (see other post on the warranty question).

If you have such a good Mk1 Fabia, then why are you bothering to change it ?

Not a change, an addition. Its that good that i am changing my 3 series BMW for another one, its the best car we have ever owned and when looking around for a replacement for my 3 series we just kept coming back to the Fabia.

If you get matched NCD, (on Multi Vehicle,)

due to the fact you are only driving one car at a time, is the insurance even that much of a consideration?

What sort of money does the Fireblade cost to insure?

The Mk1 is my wifes car (that i drive a lot anyway !) and the 3 series mine for the days when using the Blade is not really nice (ie now).

The blade costs just over £230 a year to insure fully comp.... worth every penny !
