dirty seat belts

Featured Replies

My partner has just bought a used car (non Skoda), and the seat belts, being beige, are looking in need of a serious clean. Any suggestions on how the clean seat belts in situ would be appreciated. Thanks.

Won't any upholstery cleaner do the job?

Try baby wipes.

Use some warm water with soap in it. If you cannot find soap then dump a clean towel with the warm water and rub some soap in it. Then rub the seat belt. After that use another towel dump with warm water to "rinse" the soap. If you want you can use a third dry towel this time to dry your seat belt, or else you can leave her to dry by the air.

what!

If you can't find some soap then I think a dirty seat belt is the least of your worries.

I meant green pure olive oil in form of powder. If you cannot find that type of soap then use a bar of olive oil soap.

Don't you have something like "dry cleaner" for cars? If I had second hand car, I'd make sure to clean all body liquids and skin remains of a previous owner. ( I mean, I have no hesitations or abhorrence for other people, but what's mine, it's mine! - including filth). Next time, when car is dirty, but with my own filth, maybe I'd try cleaning

with some car cleanser and water.

Tesco upholstry cleaner 49p and a damp microfibre!

I would try a solution like Meguiars APC. Agitated with a fabric/upholstery brush.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk whilst in a taxi rank
I bought some Armoral (sp?) interior wipes from Hellfords, used them on loads of things from girlfriends MK1 Fabia vRS seats to a curry stain on the side board in the kitchen, worked wonders! Totally recommend them!

Have a classic Mini which can have a little issue with mould on the seat belts if I don't air the car over the winter.

Unfortunately my seat belts are grey - quite rare on Mini's are most are black.

New one's are really expensive.

Process I follow is to remove seat belt from the car on a dry sunny day.

Pull out the seat belt from the housing until almost fully out - not all the way as not to damage the spring - and hold in place with two clothes pegs by the housing, so the seat belt can't go back in.

Lay the seat belt down on the patio.

Give it a good spray with Autoglym Interior Shampoo, brushing in any bad bits with a paint brush.

Then leave to dry.

Always seems to do the trick.
