Skoda APR VAT offer

Featured Replies

on the skoda website is is saying about the ZERO percent APR and vat offer does this apply for the 1.6 TDI superb S type and when is it due to end

Edited by racing boy

I would say not but I took delivery of my Superb Greenline SE 2 months ago and that was zero vat so check with your dealer.

According to the website, there is 0% VAT on Superb S diesel Hatch, but not Estate, and no finance deal on the S.

0% VAT model inclusions: Fabia S, SE (SE 1.2 12V 69PS not included), SE Plus, Monte Carlo, GreenLine II, Elegance and Scout. Roomster S, SE (SE 1.2 MPI 12V 69PS and SE 1.2 TSI 86PS not included), SE Plus, GreenLine II and Scout. Octavia S, SE, SE Plus, vRS, vRS Blackline, GreenLine II, Elegance and L & K. Superb Hatch S, SE, SE Plus and Elegance (including L & K). Superb Estate S, SE, SE Plus and Elegance (including L & K) petrol models only.

0% APR representative model inclusions: Fabia Elegance and Scout. Roomster Scout. Octavia Elegance and L & K. Superb Hatch Elegance (including L & K). Superb Estate Elegance (including L & K) petrol models only.

just seen this does it make much of a difference. Reduction equivalent to 20% VAT applied to original base price including factory fitted optional extras available on selected models (exclusions apply). VAT applies to reduced price. Finance is not required to obtain no VAT offer. Prices and specifications are accurate at time of print. Offers may be varied or withdrawn at any time and are not available in conjunction with any other offer. Retail sales only. Participating retailers only. Subject to availability on orders placed before the 31st December 2012. So the base price is £15,050 and the vat is £3010 so that's 18 thousand and odd, i should get the car for 15,050 and i'm trading in my 2008 Octavia with 120,000 miles i want £2500 for it so that should bring it down to £12550 but will there be vat on that and if there is it should be £2510 and that will bring the price up to £15060 am i right?

No. If, as you say, the base price is £15,050, then that becomes the new retail price of the new car. Subtract the value of your px, and that becomes £12,550. The statement about VAT applying to the reduced price simply means that the invoice has to show VAT at 20%, so the invoice value will show a VAT amount, but the total of base price + VAT less px will still be £12,550. Speak to a dealer; they should be able to give you a quote.

Does this mean there is no finance what so ever

As long as you are aware that this a 50% deposit 2 year deal. So 50% now 50% in 2 years time. These kind of deals have been around for years and offered off and on by several manufacturers.

Cheers

Steve

Best thing is to speak to a dealer. December is often the driest month for them so they may well be keen for your business.

I'm looking to take the finance over a 48 month period is that possible? with blackhorse

Unfortunately not at 0%, although rates are currently low for normal finance. That is the way the majority of these 0% deals work. They are mainly there as marketing headliners.

The manufacturers are fully aware that these type of deals don't fit the majority of buyers, however, it's the way the deals are financed that is behind their structure and they like the headline grabbing 0%!

Just to clarify this Racing Boy - the Superb S Hatch TDI is:

1) Applicable to 0% VAT - easiest way to work this is take the Recommended OTR and minus the VAT

E.G. OTR £18,625 - VAT £3,010 = £15,615 + factory options, metallic paint etc.

2) Is not on the 0% APR offer - only applies to Elegance and L&K models with minimum 50% deposit over 24 months maximum.

3) Is available on 7.9% Representative APR offer up to 3 years HP or 3 1/2 years PCP with 3 years/30K free servicing.

Hopefully that clarifies things.

Racing boy, If you were a cash buyer, including metallic paint for a standard non-Greenline 1.6 diesel S you would be looking to pay £15,000-15,200 at the moment. That excludes any allowance for a trade in. Your £15,060 you mentioned above wasn't far out I believe. December is always a quiet month and the closer they get to the year end sales target, the more dealers want to do a deal. Screw them down on that one.

can i use blackhorse i've never used Skoda Finance always used blackhorse would i stil get 0 percent with black horse

You can finance the car whatever way you wish. You'll have to see what blackhorse offers.

When you have those compare with Skoda finance as you may find rates better and as above with Preston motors they add in free servicing on some offers.

Sometimes it's cheaper to go for 3 year plan than keep/spread over 4 so look at options before deciding length of finance etc.

so i can finance with blackhorse but will i still get 0 percent VAT with 48 month period as long as ordered before 31 dec, and if skoda offer the same i'l go with them i can't afford half of the cars price the now and half and in two years time

Yes the zero VAT offer is available no matter how you finance the vehicle, as long as you order an applicable car by end of year.

But remember no doubt Skoda will have another zero VAT offer starting in January. Not guaranteed, but most likely.

sounds good but does anyone knoe the APR rate

I've just done a deal on a new superb using both 0% VAT equivalent deal and 0% APR over 2 years from Skoda Finance.

To be honest, it took me a moment or two to get it sorted in my head (maths never my strong point). I think I have it right below but do feel free to make clearer if not!

The dealership cannot sell a vehicle without charging VAT, hence why it's a VAT equivalent deal.

In preparing the quote, the dealer will total up all the costs without VAT i.e. list price + cost of factory extras + cost of dealer fitted accessories (e.g. mudflaps).

They will then discount that total amount by 16.666666666% to give a discount equivalent to the amount of VAT you would pay on the total.

E.g. car + options would cost £15,000 without VAT.

A discount equivalent to vat is 16.67% of that, i.e. £2,500 making the actual cost of the car (before VAT) £12,500.

Then vat is added to that reduced amount, at 20% - so £12,500 + 20% VAT = £15,000 - this is the amount you are paying, the same as the price without VAT.

So normally you would have paid £15,000 + VAT = £18,000, so your actual discount is £3000.

What's worth remembering is that delivery is not subject to the discount, neither are road fund tax and first registration fees.

What you want to see is the dealer making that 16.67% discount larger, which will further discount the car over and above the VAT offer. I achieved 2% further discount. I'm sure others would do better / could do better but in my own situation this was a very good deal, so I stopped negotiating when I was happy with the result and was still being offered the better coffee in the dealership :-) Also, the final price came in below the What Car? recommended "most you should pay" amount and that was not taking into account a load of options over the base spec.

For the 0% finance, you do have to lay out 50% of the final price, which would typically be made up from deposit and maybe trade in of previous car. But you're owning the whole car after two years, so residuals much higher at that point.

I haven't posted much before so hope this was helpful.....
