Blackline niggles............

Featured Replies

As I'm new to the forum and on my 2nd Octy (first one being a 1.4 SE plus) WRT the blacklines only being deisel have they ever done limited edition petrols? I know they did anothe LE in 2009 as the dealer has 1 on his forecourt - was that just deisel only too. If they only do smokers does anyone know why? do they sell more petrols than deisels so don't need to or possibly don't think they could sell 500 petrols, or if they offered petrol and deisel some would be left. This isn't meant as a dig at the TFSI just a genuie question from someone who's wondering why it looks like deisels only.......

Has anyone put the rounded rear mudflaps on their vRS- I've put the square ones on mine and they don't seem much cop!

With the previous limited edition from what i remember they did a petrol version it had the newer Tsi engine. They probably do sell more diesel Vrs's than the petrol variant although im not 100% sure.

Gents, ladies if any dont want to be sexist.

have got my Blackline DSG eventually and soo looked forward to collecting, was sad to say bye to the VRS DSG.

have some questions if anyone out there can help.

i was a bit miffed when i tried to put more than one CD into the system to find it was only a single disc. is this standard or have i mucked up?

i have got an awful whistling sound at 60+ even when i go to max it is still there. any sugestions?

car has only done 400 miles but brakes still squeking cant remember if it did with old car when new.

apart from that great car chuffed i ordered one in March and dont regret it.

It was mentioned on another post about numbering the blacklines does anyone want to give it a go???? there are 515 in total.

No ste you have not mucked up you are correct its a single disc slot loader. However don't think of this as a negative it has an SD slot

so basically buy a cheap SDHC card off ebay fill it with your entire Music back catalogue stick it on random and da,da!!! you have your own radio station full of just your favorite music. Some people are never happy with this response and feel like they are missing out by not having a multi cd changer to those people i will say this:

- The cost of discs to match what i could fit all my music on one 32gb sd card would cost more than the SD Card itself.

- You will never get a track skip as you drive over bumps in the road or have a track not play when its really cold and the disc surface has steamed up. (Getting both of these problems with my other vrs which has a 6disc changer).

- Even on the best albumn's there is always at least one track thats a bit pants and a filler however usually its more than one. Using CD's you would have to skip the track manually for each one. However these naff tracks can be omitted from your SD Card Collection to avoid any need for skipping.

- The Shuffle function is instantaneous with SD but with a changer it can take a number of seconds to change from a track on one disc to a track on a different

Basically peoples instinctive request for a CD changer and reluctance to adopt Solid State is similar to the old Vinyl to CD arguement the advantages are obvious as above you don't see many people rocking a record player anymore do you.

Whistling sound - give it more beans then the engine will be loud enough to drown out the whistle maybe fit a better exhaust to give more growl :giggle:

Seriously though it sounds like you have the dreaded door seal whistle i touch wood have no such whistle in mine but i know others have complained

of similar noise perhaps do a search.

Brake squeel haven't had this either now on 800 miles and there are no worrying noises except an unexpected throaty burble from the engine very satisfying

for a cough diesel when you give the throttle a good press.

Perhaps a trip back to the dealer might be in order with the bottom two problems.

Agree with scribbler on the sd card. Cds are last century.... If you select audio in the maxidot menu you can use the rocker on the right stalk to skip/replay tracks without having to take your hands off thd wheel too. Might be other options too but not had chance to find out.

The whistle is well discussed on here. Seems its the front at the bonnet opening and there is a fix. Search on here.

How can you know there are 515 blacklines?

thanks for the info guys much appreciated.

will look into the SD card and sort that one out will also look into the whistle as it is coming from the bonnet area.

unfortunately the dealer is in the UK and the Germans are a pain if the car is UK RHD.

SLY. there were 500 Blacklines made. In March when i ordered mine there were only going to be 50 tax free for the British military and then Skoda jumped on it and made 500. because the dealer i go through who came up with the idea had more orders, Skoda made another 15 for him. 250 of which are white 1/3 black and the rest are blue.

just had our first snow of the year and have my winter tyres in the garage. taking my Ma in law to the airport slid through a red light and hit a Renault. what a bummer absolutely no damage to the SKUD however the renault now needs a new bumper and wing. now waiting for a fine from the german Police for causing an accident for not having snow tyres fitted. bummer €100 put aside for that one.

Ouch sorry to hear that didn't realise you were based in germany. How will they know you didn't have snow tyres on unless you tell them? surely the renault driver didn't make a note of it. On the upside the bump at the front might have fixed the whistle

LOL, unfortunately doesnt matter how big the bump the GCP (German Civil Police) have to be called and it is easier to tell them the truth otherwise they just make your life hell. they inspect your car and if there is no snow flake on the car then you have summer tyres on and they are as of three years ago illegal if it is bad weather. my fault as i said they are in the garage and didnt book to get them put on. you are supposed to have them fitted from October until April.....

Hopefully you are correct and the whistle has stopped.

Thanks Ste
