Blackline niggles............

Featured Replies

The thread ain't been hijacked. At the end of the day it's an octavia vrs. It won't have issues that's unique to it being called a blackline as its still an octavia vrs. So it has the same engines and gearboxes as a normal Vrs only the Amundsen is different. The blackline was / is a great car for the money no one is denying that. It's not like the last ltd edition before the facelift model that was a proper ltd edition with completely different wheels and interior along with being individually numbered.

  • Maybe you should have bought another Audi?

  • This man speakith the truth lol.

  • Or you want a petrol. Or xenon headlights, curtain airbags, front parking sensors, sunroof, Columbus sat nav, heated front seats, auto lights and wipers etc. etc.

Ive got a bit of a creaking noise coming from my drivers side door card every now and again which is strange, had it on my old Vrs aswell................also the power steering is quite loud doing intricate parking manouvers??

Don't even own a vRS of any description (opted for the L&K instead after driving them both), just playing devil's advocate.

so we ain't allowed to comment where a blackline is concerned if we own an Octavia Vrs ? God help us if thats the way the forum will go. while your at it why dont you ask the mods for an Octavia Vrs blackline section

He he this must be one of the longest threads on the forum, populated in part by people who haven't got one!

To the views that it's a normal VRS. It's not, because

1/ My V5 says vRS Blackine on it (so it's OFFICIALLY a different model)

2/ My insurance says vRS Blackline on it (so the insurance companies class it as being different from a standard vRS too)

3/ Previous posts show both CAP and Glasses have it as a seperate model- don't know what Glasses says but according to previous post CAP has the BL with a higher resale value than the standard vRS.

The view that you can spec a standard vRS up so it's no different to the BL is a flawed argument because:

You can't get the DAB and amundsen as an optional extra. If this view that the vRS and blackline are the same was correct there would be no difference between a S, SE, SE plus et all because in theory you can spec them up via optional extras in a similar way to that suggested, but again they are all seperate models in their same right, just like the blackline, so have their own seperate values.

My view is that come trade in dealers will charge slightly more for the BL because of the better spec (backed up by the previous posts showing CAP values). That's simple economics because someone will be prepared to pay a little extra for a different model that has DAB, sat nav, full leather, parking sensors and black alloys as standrad, and he'll charge slightly less for the standrad vRS which does not have these as standard making it easier to sell, plus there will be more standard vRS's about so they will be less 'exclusive' because of the volumes made whether Skoda have stuck to the 500 or not I guess.

Does any of this matter? Not in the slightest!

Cheers

Ade

Doubt it. :giggle:

I don't see many people disputing the fact that it's a separate model. The point I was making was it could still have the same issues as the other diesel vrs's with the exception of the Amundsen. As I already said the blackline was a great deal and great value the only downside to it was being diesel only.

Your allowed to post what ever you like its an open forum, im mearly asking why you would waste your valuable time post such unhelpfull rubish it sent me to sleep reading it yawn!. We have enough people bashing the brand so to get it from other Skoda / VRS owners seams a bit pointless. I have said already that i own both a standard VRS with optional extras and a VRS Blackline. We arn't delusional Im well aware of the differences and similarities so why do you feel the need to point them out. Its a thread about blacklines and no it doesn't require its own blackline section that would be stupid although it might merit its own threa (here) for owners and interested parties to discuss any issues. However peoples eagerness to rubish the name does smack of sour grapes slightly.

Well done

After 1800 miles since Oct 5th, I have an issue with my Blackline.....I have lost a dust cap off the wheel valve. :giggle:

Ah ****, what a disaster lol

I've just been to the pump for the second time since buying, to put more diesel in and noticed the car is filthy. Only niggle so far.

I have also ordered a spare wheel and jack kit as i'd prefer to have one. £131 btw

I've still got over half of the original full tank of diesel that the dealer put in it for me when I originally bought it (that has a lot to do with it being off the road for over a week though). I also requested that the dealer provide a spare wheel as part of the deal before I agreed to buy it - I hate the idea of not having any type of spare wheel. My previous BMW only had run-flats with no spare and on any sort of journey there was always a slight worry at the back of my mind in case I ever got a puncture with no means of carrying on with the trip.

Well here's one. The amundsen in my Blackline has a slight scratch over the touch screen and on the bezel. Its so small i thought it was a cobweb initially. The dealers have offered to replace it however they are going to swap it with the one in their new demo car which happens to be a new rapid. They have said its exactly the same model so should fit and work the same and its brand new and untouched. However im just consearned there might be a few subtle differences i.e. the parking sensors might not show up on the screen or something. Anyone have any idea's? They have said if im unhappy with the swap in anyway then they will have to bite the bullet and pay for a new replacement as it wasn't noticed on their inspection paperwork so skoda HQ wont foot the bill. Im happy for them to try and swap the units as long as it functions correctly they have said they will fill my tank with fuel again due to the incovenience and i have got some other small extras thrown in aswell. They seam to be very helpfull with the issue im just consearned it might be a slightly different model of head unit. On the plus side it might have the new maps in seeing as its the newer model.

ooh look a blackline specific post who'd have thought it! :giggle:

I'd let them change the sat nav on tje condition everything you mention works afterwards. There's enough poor dealers knocking about by the looks of things so I think it would be worth a try. Afterall if it doesn't work they'll still have to get you a new one. I had what looked like scratches on my instrument besel-turned out ti be glue so are you sure it' a scratch?

Yeah its defo a scratch and what you thought was glue might be the guardx (scotch guard) if you had it done. Its an aerosol spray they use on all the interior trim. However as with all aerosols you get a bit of spatter when the nozzle clogs. I had this on a few trim pieces looks like glue but comes off with a bit of cleaner and micro fibre cloth.

P.S. the leather seats on mine are really good and easy to clean. I know some people have said they got lower back pain however this may be a generic VRS thing my leather seats are really comfortable. best bit about the car imho.

longest drive ive done so far is 90 minutes. No pain worth mentioning but i had a bit of shoulder pain. Im putting this down to binning the motorbike a couple of weeks ago and being a bit slow to recover!

Can't agree more - very comfortable seats indeed, and they look fantastic!!

My only niggle is that it's now a little dirty after 350 miles.....also, I might need some more fuel in about 200 miles...damn it!!

Scribbler at no point did I bash the brand. I would be stupid to do that as I'm on my 2nd vrs octavia and I managed to get my brother into one too. So sorry if it came across that way.

London last Thursday, Birmingham today car is in dire need of a clean. Just tipped over 2K miles :bandit:

No problem, im no badge snob and im on my third VRS. It just gets a bit tedius arguing the toss with people over limited editions. I had the exact same arguements on the renault forum many years ago when i had my Williams and 172 exclusive. The 172exclusive was an end of the phase 1 production run very similar to the blackline. It had all full leather different alloys and the paint was scarab green. Again it was mainly other 172 or clio owners who reveled in pointing out it was hardly any different. Generally you would get the comments from people who had put gold wheels on their bog standard clios and a bonnet vent and then claimed to be just as good as a williams etc. It doesn't bother me i was just trying to point out that it might be detracting from what the OP was asking / saying.

Only pain I've sufferd so far has come from the passenger seat LOL I agrre seats are comfy. Missus has a Seat Altea and those seats leave me with a dead leg!

Sorry, just a thought as mine looked like a scratch too- It looked just as if someone had had a metal strap on their watch when fitting the dash. Didn't go with the scotchguard- the dealer reconed it was glue that must have got there during assembly so came all the way from checko but it soon wiped off, hence my suggestion you double check

Regards your finance agreements has anyone looked at the cost if you go over the self imposed millage restriction = 7.2p per mile. That seems quite cheep to me, surely at that price its worth leaving the estimated millage low getting lower monthly repayments and then paying of the extra millage? or am i missing something?

As I'm new to the forum and on my 2nd Octy (first one being a 1.4 SE plus) WRT the blacklines only being deisel have they ever done limited edition petrols? I know they did anothe LE in 2009 as the dealer has 1 on his forecourt - was that just deisel only too. If they only do smokers does anyone know why? do they sell more petrols than deisels so don't need to or possibly don't think they could sell 500 petrols, or if they offered petrol and deisel some would be left. This isn't meant as a dig at the TFSI just a genuie question from someone who's wondering why it looks like deisels only.......

Has anyone put the rounded rear mudflaps on their vRS- I've put the square ones on mine and they don't seem much cop!

Correct. I was told there would be £60 to pay per 1000 miles over the agreement. I set my pcp up at 6000 miles per annum to lower the monthly payment. I do about 10,000 but I have no intention of handing the car back after 3 years. I'll just pay it off then decide what to do in my own time.
