1st problem with my new vrs

Featured Replies

well after owning the car since sept 1st ive come across its first problem, the problem been if the car is on full lock theres something rubbing like rubber on rubber, this happens on both sides and is rubbing like hell, any ideas what this could be lads

Someone recently picked up their new Octavia and discovered that the wheel arch liners had been fitted incorrectly.

After a little while one dropped slighty and caught the wheel when on full lock.

Have you looked to see if anything is catching the wheel, brakes or suspension when in full lock?

Sounds to me like one of the Robots had a hangover

I have the same issue on mine. Must be a September thing (picket up mine at 7th Sept). Problem seemed to disappear after fitting winter tires (narrower).

Must admit, I've noticed the same sound on mine since I've had it, i.e. sound like rubber on rubber. i thought it might be the driveshaft rubber /silicone boots concertina-ing on full lock and just making that creaking/ rubbery sound. Not had it investigated although it sounds quite odd from outside the car and a little embarassing when people hear it when manoeuvering in the car park.

Correction - problem still there, winter tires did not help. Will talk to the dealer in dec.

Wheelarch liners I'd suspect. Get the dealer to remove the wheels and take a closer look.

had it into the dealers today and problem is cv boot rubbers when on full lock, they have sprayed them with siloken spray and have said it will go away once it gets some miles on it as its only done 900 since it was new.

yep its a common thing i get it on mine and a mate who had an 11 plate vrs had the same CV boot making a noise only when wet though, it had 2k on the clock and rust on the boot aswell!!
