Fog lights is broad daylight

Featured Replies

What is it with the latest Chav craze to drive around with just sidelights and fog lights on!!! I just don't see any point in this at all.

They want to believe they have DRL's, thats the only thing I can think of.

To$$ers, and invariably the same chav muppets that drive as far back and reclined as possible, left hand at the two O'Clock position listening to Dub turned up to eleven, open-mouthed and drooling and probably a candidate for The Jeremy Vile Show.

******s, extremely annoying! A lot of my mates do it of whom I've had arguments with over the subject!! Argh even the thought angers me!

Let it go guys!

Not a fan also.... But DRLs are such a problem aswell I drive Alot of new Renault at work the amount of people flashing at me and telling me I'm a nusence because of DRLs not a fan.

Don't see how DRL's are a nuisance????

'though I started this thread I have to add that I don't find fogs in the day time a nuisance, I just don't see the point of chavs trying say "oi look at me (drool drool) oi has got DRL loo alikes I has (drool drool)"

and then they turn them off when it's foggy..

.....usually driving Halfords Corsas too

Ive seen a few cars lately that have aftermarket drl's fitted & they havent been wired correctly so they dim when the headlights are on & the blooming things are very bright! oh & they look ****!

Yep had a selection of these drivers yesterday and today:

  • Lady in BMW 1 Series - it was bright sunshine love, why did you need your sidelights and fogs on??
  • Pimped up Range Rover - you had a very smart looking £70k+ vehicle, why ruin it with some chavtastic aftermarket DRLs (one of which was dimmer than the other!!!)
  • Mondeo - you had more lights than Blackpool, was it really necessary? You could see but no bugger else could!

and to top it all, later on when it was dark the lads in the transit van had no lights on at all and chose to drive tank up the outside lane whilst towing a trailer, I ask you!

DRL's are legally allowed to dim with side/headlights on, or switch off completely.

I don't understand people who drive around with fogs on though when visibility is fine. I do hate those who don't use any lights when it's darkish though, especially when in a silver or black car. Do they not realise how hard it is to see them? Lights are also about being seen, not just seeing where you're going!

Sorry,i didnt make my post clear,im moaning about people who fit aftermarket Drl's that DONT dim when sidelights or headlights are turned on & you get dazzled by them.

Last week i started a thread because i had needed new/replacement DRL's/sidelights on a Fabia vRS,

a repair not done or paid for by me!!!

, & untill they get changed to proper sidelights i have half masked over the lens.

(i was surprised at how many liked their standard Chav lights and 'see' no problem with them.)

I have them permanently switched off as DRL's but they are on as Sidelights with the Headlights,

and as soon as the clocks changed this year, around town at teatime 4.30- 5.30 pm i was getting flashed just too often.

Previously it had only been out of town.

They are still dead bright even half masked, but not quite as bad as standard

They are in such a stupid place as Sidelights, and a totally wrong colour IMO.

This week i notice there are lots of New Smaller Volvos with the exact same over bright round DRL's now.

Not seen yet if these are also doubling as Sidelights.

What is with all the muppets in FReezing Fog that think DRL's to the front means it is not Lightoing up time to the front with Headlights & to the rear with sidelights?

I know the Answer,

we are lucky they have any lights on, they do not know or care.

george

These are Standard vRS lights half masked over, still look stupid & annoying to other drivers and myself.

& yes they do dim as sidelights compared to if they were on as DRL's.

Still a stupid place IMHO and style to have on any car & unbelievable that Skoda do not fit Fog Lights as Standard or give the choice of having them.

Total Chav by 'Skoda Chav Design'.

*Important to remember that one of these left on to the right or the left at the front are the Parking Lights on a Fabia vRS.*

At the rear you get the sidelight to one side and half the numberplate lit.

Totaly believable George.......cost. The cost of having the light main cluster redesigned to accommodate vs the cost of replacing the fogs with DRLS in an exisiting location. From the accountants point of view it's a no brainer. Common sense on the other hand.......... ;)

I vaugely remember seeing somewhere that the brightness can be controlled via VCDS.

It's as daft as women wearing sunglasses on top of their heads even when it's raining. Just plain daft. Don't do it as it really annoys me.

RainbowFire,

The sidelight bulbs fitments are actually in the Old Style lights fitted and sitting there redundant,

in that there is no wiring in the loom to them or to the relays.

*There is even a bulb in there not being used.*

The cost of Fog lights as an option is covered by the customer paying for having the option of them being fitted.

The location the DRL's were put could have accommodated them & also Fog lights,

the vehicle was a new design in 2010, Redesign & launch of a MK 2 Fabia vRS,

a new front end & getting DRL's to meet coming legisllation to fit them,

not to use them in the UK if the driver chooses not to..

Parts bin could have provided the Lights with a sidelight next to the headlights, as that is what they did do anyway.

(just they do not go on.)

Other VAG vehicles have lights in that area where fogs would be, that can have the 2 light types.

So the parts bin could have provided those.

VAG/Skoda just turned out a ready to go Chav car.

A Mk2 vRS to appeal to the Halfords Corsa Brigade, but with cheaper looking lights than most of them would ever fit.

JMO obviously.

Whats "Sunglasses?"

Never seen the sun

And you still bought one!?

No, i bought 2.

Thing with cars is you do not see the outside when you are driving them,

unless you look at yourself in shop windows.

Or see another one and spot how wrong they look.

*How sharn the standard lights look when you spot one even in the dark, importantly.*

Driving is mostly the point of cars.

Possibly best fun per £ bought used, in the Skoda range.

But Chav written all over it.

I can't believe I just saw a van driving in the dark with no visibility issues with just sidelights and fogs on. Looked ridiculous

AFAIK, it's Illegal to have the fogs on if there's no no fog, but it's legal to have sidelights only on if the road is lit with streetlights and restricted to 30mph or less. Personally I think that is a crazy law and should be changed.

I agree...I nearly pulled out on a car with sidelights on only the other day...Just not visible with a car behind them WITH headlights on

Why do they not put their headlights on??
