More power

Featured Replies

Hey

I am looking into running more power in the VRS it currently sits at about 181bhp

What is next as in how can I get it running more J

Usual upgrades would be

Fmic, change turbo, exhaust, induction kit, clutch/flywheel, remap..

What you done to yours?

On a tight budget it would go for a de-cat on standard exhaust. Hybrid turbo and a remap but limit the torque to save the clutch & flywheel.

Custom Exhasut, Clutch, Remap.

Intercooler and turbooo oh and another remap

There you go then... Get a egr delete, take the manifold and everything off and clean it up.

Get a different intercooler and maybe a green pannel filter or somthing similar.

Ive got an EGR delte on the way!

How easy is it to remove the mainfold?

How much is an intercooler? Any ideas on best makes?

search for tx autosport intercooler, got that on mine. cost me 200 quid inc P&P! Get a panel filter, de-cat, egr then a remap. but if your going all out you mine aswell get an upgraded turbo aswell. then you'll be pushing the 220+ mark. without the turbo could be around 200 ish :)

There all for Astra :(

Look for the Ibiza Cupra one ;)

Still none :(

You want the Seat Ibiza tdi kit from TX for the intercooler.

Its a pretty straight forward path for the VRS. After a remap, then the next stage is Turbo, which will require FMIC and a remap. Usually this will mean an uprated clutch is needed.

PS, this has been covered a lot in recent weeks :)

It's got an uprated clutch ! :)

ahah I was looking on eBay for a billy bargain :)

Ah i see! I think if you contact TX by phone and say the magic word 'Briskoda' they will offer some discount on the £250 :)

They weren't too keen to give me the discount - I emailed them about 3 weeks ago still waiting for him to ask his 'mamager'.

They aren't great on email - Id suggest calling them. 'Its good to talk' :D

I would be getting that turbo changed before yours goes bang as its pretty much on its limit. Change it before t goes and it will save you a hell of alot of trouble. You wont need it re remapped straight away as it will run ok still on the remap you have but you wont get as much gains. Seeing as you got an uprated clutch already is a big bonus too so a nice hybrid pd130/150 and a fmic will see you on the plus side of 200bhp :)

Why do I need a new turbo :-(

Standard will only cope up to 175bhp ish

You dont need it just that its being pushed pretty hard. You could be fine for years to come with no issues im just saying its what i would change next from my experience of mine going bang it would of been so much easier to of done it with out all the issues of the blown turbo.

Your saying you want more power but have you got a budget in mind?

It's got an uprated clutch ! :)

Only if you've had one fitted, cos I didn't put an uprated one in.

That will take 300 lb/ft okay, you have the receipt for the clutch I had fitted.

It's a sachs clutch but a replacement for OE item I'm afraid...

It may take up to 310lb/ft but after that you're asking for a bit much from it really.

I certainly couldn't afford to put an uprated clutch in at the time.

Google the part number on the receipt if you need to see the spec.

That car was only ever measured once in my ownership.

And that was at the notoriously overreading RR at AMD Essex.

I'd expect it to be closer to 175bhp if measured accurately with

properly calibrated machinery. It always drove lovely tbh.

No faults during my ownership. I'd say it's been mapped for no more

than 30k and about 18k of that was with me at the wheel.

The last owner had it done during his ownership then lied to me

(I asked if it was mapped and he said no) when I bought it.

I then arranged a RR day so I could get it tested.

That's what their rollers said anyway.

I never managed to find out who mapped it but I had the car for

3 and a half years with no turbo issues whatsoever.

It was my fault the original clutch got knackered and needed replacing.

Early on I didn't really know about the whole not booting it from

low revs thing and I goosed the flywheel so had clutch replaced

at the same time. It was never an 'upgrade' I got it from GSF.

Just a swap out to fix the problem and keep the car going.

Yer i did say on my other post it could be fine for a long time, its just from what has happened to me i would just recommened the turbo change at this stage while he is asking for more power and with less hassle of if it ever went.
