More power

Featured Replies

I know what you mean, but you could say it about any turbocharged

2nd used car more or less. It's a lottery. Happens to turbos new and old

with no regard for mileage/condition. Having a mapped car increases the

chances of issues of course. But that's a chance we all take when we go down

the remap route. My new car is standard at the mo, and expensive to fix when it goes wrong.

And it's also the most expensive single item I've ever bought after my house.

But will i map it and piddle about with it in general?

Probably, but I'm prepared to live with the consequences if

things go wrong.

I gave Kevin a copy of the graph that was produced

when I had the car measured. On it, you can see there are no nasty spikes

and it looks like a generic map usually looks on a graph.

It's all I had to offer Kevin as visible evidence of how the car runs.

He's had the car a little while now and I'm sure he'll agree with me when I

say how nicely it drives. I'm not sure it really needs any more power,

kept up with most things in day to day driving. What more do you want?

I agree with everything you are saying. Its just the fact he was asking for more power and a turbo at this point would be my first stop. Never doubted the car, the map or the previous owner ;) . I bought my fabia for 5 grand and that is 5x more expensive than anything i bought before but with in a month or so it was remapped, coilovers, panel filter and more while the first thing i said when buying it was im not going to touch it for over a year or more and i would say 90% ofthe people on hear say the same. Its what we love and its why we fool ourselfs into thinking we NEED thing not want them :) . It is a great car and nice power but if he wants more a new turbo is his only option really.

Oh Yes! Couldn't agree more, if he's chasing the 200bhp barrier

then a bigger new turbo and FMIC is the only way to do it safely.

Then there's the reinforced clutch he'll need and maybe smf.

That's what I kinda mean about not pushing it any harder,

it'll be big bucks to safely make it go faster enough to notice

any improvement.. Can't see the point of spending what the cars worth

again on go faster mods and work. You'll never get that back out again.

That was the choice I was faced with, chuck several grand at it to make it look prettier

and go better. Or cash in my chips and get something that had as standard all the things

I wanted to add to my Fab.

My Fab did have cruise though which I used all the time.

New car doesn't have it but am having a retro fit done by an Audi sport

member so soon will have.
