Seat Belt Buckle/Stalk change, random warning light

Featured Replies

70k service (65k on the clock), with prepaid plan at a Skoda dealer.

Car was bought 9 months ago, approved and with 1 year warranty.

I had random seat belt warning light on the drivers seat so asked for a check.

Inspection result: buckle or stalk needs replacing, not covered by warranty, £129.

I wonder should I just go for it? does it feel right?

Cheers!

silly me, thousand apologies, posted in the wrong forum. now looking on how can I move or delete it...

Moved to Octavia 2. You can have it replaced if you want the warning to work as intended, you can live with it in its present state, or you could possibly have the warning removed completely by having the dash panel recoded, which should cost alot less than £129.

Contact someone local to you with VCDS (click on the link in my signature for a map of the VCDS owners on Briskoda) and get it coded out.

Thanks guys I rushed into the fix, as the damn thing was driving me mad. In the future I will consider cheaper fixes for minor things though. Not worth that price for a plastic clamp. :-)

The seat belt warning light on my 2008 Octavia kept going off repeatedly whilst driving (yes I had my seat belt on). It looked like a problem with the seat belt stalk, but this thread on the forums gives you the instructions to disable the alarm.

My dealer was quoting up to £900 to replace the whole seat belt system, so thank you Briskoda!
