Should my console bush look this off centre?

Featured Replies

So had a bit of knocking over bumps this afternoon and then saw this. bevygygy.jpg

Console bush was mentioned on the last mot which is why I looked there first. Note picture taken whilst on full lock (not sure if it effects the positioning.)

Thats the old style with 2 points of contact, then two bump stops within the bush. Ideally should be central, which the new X type bush addresses.

They do move quite a bit off centre when on full lock.

God the standard bushes are crap.

Unit 18 - proper X bush = happy man, much better handling car

^^^

They are much better aren't they?

Believe it or not some places still stock the 2 web ones.

Can't imagine they sell many... The last set of those I bought went on to the SDI

and lasted 8 months. Had the 4 webs fitted after that.

powerflex!!!

powerflex!!!

Yes, they are very good but surely it technically counts as a handling mod??

So should really be declared to insurer. But Skoda would fit the x bushes

if you went there for them and they would qualify as OE after SUK revised

the type of bushes they fitted to these cars.

Not always!!!!!

I'm with Avia.........I read out a list of all my mods but they weren't bothered with most..............the only ones that they charged me more for was the custom built C.A.I.......and my extra set of summer alloys (winters on old OEM alloys)...as these two appear on my insurance cert....

I just explained that all the items fit into the OEM places, are the same overall dimensions, are more durable, control, brake the car better and are more safety orientated than the OEM.......there is no lowering of the car........

All they wanted to know was do the manufacurers state performace gains.......I stated that for the back box, CAI, leads etc the manufacturers state a "general" % for the item but this apples across the range of cars....not specific to my engine........

.........thing is I know it's faster...........but can't prove it......unless i get it on a rolling road...........then I'll have to tell the insurance....... bugger!!!

I almost got powerflex bushes when I had to do the drivers side for the mot. Bizzarly on the way home and so far today it hasn't missed a beat no noise whatsoever.

So is that the older style? I know my drivers side replacement is basically almost sealed as in you can't see any of the Cross shaped bump stops etc.
