The Competition!

Featured Replies

If you could have any other car in a similar price range to your current motor, what would it be? Maybe there

What criteria do you have? 15k will buy a lot of different motors, especially if you are including 2nd hand......

Gimme a clue as to what you are looking for in a car.

15k second hand, I'd have a lotus carlton......... five seats and 175 mph! lol...

BMW M3, the old style

Something fairly quick (remapped Furby territory), or with the potential for it! A diesel if possible.

An M3 sounds tempting. Trouble is it would cost me a fortune to insure, and I'm not looking to sell any internal organs anytime soon!

What I want is good build quality and to be able to sell it in a few without having to slit my wrists afterwards.

I've been thinking about lots of cars.

Clio 182, CTR, Cooper S, Scooby( ) and dare I say it the MK V Golf! :ashamed:

My trouble is I thought I'd found the perfect car in the Furby. I'm just disappointed with the hassle it's been.

Cunning plan:

Buy an old diesel estate for 5k.

Buy a second hand westfiled for 10k - use the estate to tow it to trackdays, or just use the westie on nice sunny days and weekends :D :D

Supra twin turbo for me :orb_tai_c (Jap car fetishist)

Big steering wheel that smileys got :D

Lol :D

Who was looking at the smiley - I never got past the avatar

Now Now boys! Leave the anime out o

How anout a new octavia 2.0l pd. The next gen of the Fabia vrs engine and same performance figures/mapping potential. 15k should get you an Ambiente if you buy brand new or depending on the discount, an Elegance.

Would be my choice for the money. Or a second had Audi A4 TDi like a particular other member of this site has ;)

If you really like the fabia have the exchange and see how that one is, atleast an exchange has been offered aswell as a refund. With the pug 206 I had I ended up selling on as even peugeot would have it back! I feel sorry for the mug that bought it though :o

Out of this list you posted

Clio 182 are you having a laugh, seriously have you looked in side one there no diffrent to a crappy 1.2 and performance aint all that...

CTR, the one my GF ended up getting after looking at lots of cars, quick but doesnt feel it, very noisy on motorway, over all great car great handling bullet proof engine 200bhp as standard, like to drink petrol like peter kay does beer...

Mini Cooper S, Are you gay or a hair dresser if so fine get one if not read on..

Scooby, At 15K you could pick a nice low milage WRX STI 265bhp and qucik as greyhound with a bum full of dynamite this one scared my GF too much so she didnt get it, but was my favorite, thats if you can get over how it looks...

Thats my thoughts and opinons after test driving the cars on your list....

I don't envy any cars.I do desire a lotus elise though :D .

If you are looking for a warm hatch I still think the fab is the sensible choice. If you don't want to risk it again and want a more grown up ride, try the suggested octy.Second hand examples are out there for some pretty good prices.

Can't think of much that floats my boat on the current market except the new golf gti which is out of your price league.Don't like the way everything is going mpv shaped :thumbdwn:

I would go for a second hand car.As you have seen from the replies the list is endless :) Also,as suggested, narrow down what you are looking for.Hot hatch, warm hatch,convertible,saloon,4x4?

Fettled S4.

 mmmmmm

Insurance would still be an issue though like the M3.

If you are after a diesel, I would go for the Golf MkIV, GT TDI.... Once they are remapped, they are very quick indeed. And the insurance is very reasonable

Not gay and not a hairdresser, so sorry to all the puffs out there needing a short back and sides!

I'll agree the 182 is SHIIIITE! :thumbdwn:

CTR has no torque :thumbdwn:

S3 Hmm....

M3 There's a reason the pound sign lies above 3 on the keyboard!

Now the Scooby... I love one but I think the fuel costs would kill me...
