VagCom confusion

Featured Replies

Hey people,

Just bought a 1.6 Felly and when for some reason, it won't scan the engine module when the engine is running, but it will when the engine is not running, so I can't have a nosy at all the measuring blocks. All the other modules scan fine too.

Any ideas? Googled high and low but not come across anything like this as yet.

Cheers

try unplugging the altenator or knocking the fanbelt off,it could be interferance from it

Genius mate! Unplugged it and it worked first time, but just went off again after about 30 seconds (no response from controller), not sure if that could the lead or the vagcom software or something more elusive.

Anyway, I thought the alternator might not be quite right as the tacho either reads zero or 4200RPM, the interior and exterior lights seem quite dim, the heated seats don't seem to heat very much and on FM the radio has a horrible high pitched whine over it, so I can't bear to use it.

Still, I'll check it all over if I ever find me multimeter.

you are logging in 12233 arent you?

Erm, what, I type 12233 inthe 'Login' do I mate? :S not sure

yup select engine, let it do its thing then click login, type and entern 12233, and that gives you control over it too. mine always logged out when engine started til i did this, then click adaptation, and go up 1

Hmm, login didn't work, 'wasnt accepted by controller' or something. Doesn't worry me too much, but the fact that it does work when I unplug the alternator is confuddling. I can access the controller when I do this, which discounts the logging in thing?

Also, I just tried the radio without the engine running, it still makes a funny noise, so I guess the alternator isn't the cause of that, it's like theres two different stations playing at the same time.

I've also been revving the engine with the lights on to see if they dim at all, but they don't seem to. Next, I put everything electrical in the car on, and the engine changed in pitch in time with the hazard lights flashing on and off. The power windows really struggled as well but I'm not sure if this is normal when theres a high electrical load.

The airbag came back with an intermitent 'B+ voltage too low'.

ECU voltage with the battery alone was about 11.8 or something also.

Hmm....

is it a full version of vag com? or just a free lite version?

Aye tis only a lite version coupled with an eBay cable. No big enough incentive to purchase the full version just yet as I'd rather spend the 60/70 quid it is on the lambda that seems to need doing.

i think for anything more than just a basic scan you need a full version, so seeing your fuelling etc may not be possible as the soft would block you out.

Im not positive but that seems likely, i have the full version and have to log in to get the use of the measuring blocks

It does inform me that I need to login to see certain blocks, so it seems; but I can still see the blocks with the engine not running (not of great use), or with the engine running and the alternator unplugged.Tricky one.
