2011 tfsi Vrs bonnet insulation

Featured Replies

I have just purchased a 2011 petrol Vrs , whilst topping up the screen wash I noticed that there is NO bonnet lining/insulation! I'm new to using forums , so probably haven't searched the topic correctly. Should there be some for of insulation in this particular model, or like most things now is it an another optional extra ?

Its not needed on the petrol versions apparently.

You could retrofit some but I would assume the heat build up has been recorded by Skoda and it is deemed not necessary.

Correct, not on petrol models. I retrofitted it on my car jsut so during the winter the engine's not so cold on startup. That's the theory anyway and i've never had any issues with it.

My 06 TFSi came with it

Yep, our new one does not have it either.

Think only the diesel models get it to reduce the noise. Can't see it making a huge difference with regards to engine startup temp during winter?

My 07 TFSI didn't.

cheers for the link think i'll order one up.

You'd be surprised.

takes all of 2 mins, just pop the clips through the insulation and into the holes already there in the bonnet, I forgot I had this mod just after I got the car

It is very easy to fit, 5 minute job. Just make sure you put the lower edge, nearest the screen when the bonnet is open under the tags the bonnet. As the picture courtsey of paulolourenco76

I fitted one because it finished the underside of the bonnety off nicely, stops you seeing dirty underside of the bonnet, certainly made the TSi slightly quieter although that maybe just me dreaming, and car warmed up quicker I found in freezing cold waether.

My 2012 1.4TSI doesn't have one either, I was a bit surprised. Not that it's terribly noisy, but the sound the bonnet makes when you close it reminds me of something from the eastern block. Which technically isn't wrong, but still. :D

Is it the same part for pre-FL and post-FL cars?

When you order it make sure the Part No has the suffix "A" - this means you get the liner plus the dozen or so fixing clips.

Doh, seems another thing to add to the list of to do's

the one i ordered above from skodaparts had all the clips required. it really was a 2 minute job.

Ordered mine, now showing as dispatched. How long do skodaparts.com normally take in transit?

The question is : Is it cheaper to order the part from your local Skoda dealership OR via Skodparts.internet with the large carriage fee ? I did try emailing a few local dealerships with for a price, but neither replied !

My dealer has quoted £20.04 + VAT for the under bonnet insulation, plus 12 clips at 14p + VAT each. They wanted the cars reg number as apparently there are 3 options on the clips depending on the car. Skodaparts want £8 for P&P (fair enough, it's pretty bulky!), so for me the local dealer is cheaper.
