Fitted bonnet lifter and have a question about how bonnet sits

Featured Replies

The bonnet sits flat, but the gap on each side of the bonnet between the side panels is different to how it was before... the side with the bonnet lifter is a bit closwer. Has anybody else had this problem? and will it slowly warp anything do you think? It is only a few mm's now but i don't want to leave it on if over time it will warp and mis-shape anything... Thanks

Are you saying its actually lower where the lifter is? I've heard of them being a bit higher due to the strength of the brand new struts, but never lower. How is the panel gap between the wing and the bonnet all the way up each side? :) Assume you removed the orange clip per the instructions?

Edit: - I think I understand now, but the lifter will not affect the side to side of the bonnet, just the height. Get down to bonnet level, and if its raised a bit, swap out the strut for one out of your bootlid, as it will be more used and weaker, therefore not applying as much force when closed.

Lifter does apply force asymetrically so IMO could do what you're stating. However, Jason's sold enough of them that there'd be noisy(!) feedback if they broke anything. If you're that concerned, you could try making a rubber bumper to help the NS of the bonnet sit more squarely when closing/closed.

where can you buy the lifter kit from?

didn't realise it was that Jason, and didn't spot the sig, cheers!

No worries.

I've got one and i would personally recommend them. I've got a slight lift in the bonnet when closed but nothing i'm too concerned about. :)

Same here. Never had a single problem with it whatsoever. Defo worth the small outlay. :hi: :hi: :hi:

Only problem I had with the lifter kit was when some muppet in a garage twisted my bonnet by pushing down on the left side.
