rear lights problem

Featured Replies

My rear lights have been annoying me for a while now, the 2 w3w bulbs keep going out then coming back on in the passenger side light, ive replaced both the bulbs checked the push in connectors are tight but still still they keep going out, im suspecting a wiring problem because when the lights were out i checked for a voltage and never got any on the bulb connector. The 2 sets of wires come up to the light from behind the rear arch area, what i want to know is there a multi plug for the loom further along that might need pushing back home or does anyone know a common place the loom rubs through or something.

i dont want to start dismantling trim till i know or at least have an idea of where im looking, me and trim dont go i usually end up breaking a tab off or something.

Funny you should mention this, i have a similar problem. Only been over the last week or so. Be interesting to see who else has it or knows the cause. Seems to go with the cold weather in mine (probably unrelated just an observation.

There is an electronic control unit mounted behind the boot carpet somewhere close to the CD Multichanger.

The Octavia has a nasty habit of splitting the rear washer pipe in this area which covers the control unit in screen wash.

This has been known to cause quite a few electrical issues at the back end of the car.

Might be a long shot but worth a try..?

I would say it is the first place to look when you get any rear end electrical issues. The fact that the multiples and the screencast pipe are housed in the same retaining clip is poor design.

That should have read multiplug and screenwash! Why do phones always think they know better!
