Yes fuel cooler but it should be exposed. If its covered what would the point in it be lol?

Far out man. At what stage is the fuel cooled? I've heard of heating diesel in cold weather... is it somewhere in the recirculation phase?

I believe it's on the return line to the tank.

Yeah unused diesel from the fuel rail (inside the cylinder head) gets quite hot so is cooled on it's return to the fuel tank.

I've seen the radiator under the car and knew it was fuel cooler but never knew it was for the return. Glad i read this now, Thanks.
