Blackline = awesome

Featured Replies

I just wanted to share how impressed I am with my white dsg hatch blackline ..... It's not the fact that its a blackline but its the kit I would not have been able to afford had I bought a standard vrs !

I know there has been some spirited banter surrounding if this is a legit limited edition but sod that .... The seats are stunning ( first full leather seats I've had ) very comfortable and supportive without squeezing the crap out of you.

Dab radio and touchscreen sat nav ... What can I say ... Fantastic easy to use and again unaffordable if it wasn't thrown in !!!

All in all I love this car reminds me of a previous mk1 vrs octy I had in the feel of the drive but has moved on in the interior and styling.

I feel sorry for those having issues with theirs and touch wood all remains good for me and I hope you get yours sorted, hope the other blackline owners are loving theirs .... That's all I wanted to say except bugger me she looks damn pretty sat in the drive

+1

The black alloys will certainly be standing up better to the winter grime better than mine i would imagine.

Agree regarding the sat nav. You would need to be a mentalist to pay for this option if you specced it onto a standard car. But fitted as standard to yours thats great value. I would love it as built in sat nav just looks so dam cool. Tom tom does the job seeing as it only gets used on rare occasions but that still doesnt stop me wanting built in sat nav just to satisfy the gadget geek in me.

I would have leather in a heart beat as well but again being a tight wad i wouldnt pay for it.

Basically you have all the options i want but didnt want to pay for. Maybe if i had more patience i could have waited for a blackline but it still doesnt stop me enjoying my standard VRS.

TBH i wouldnt give two hoots about it not being a "proper" limited edition. Who cares. Getting more for less money is at that matters.

Enjoy.

I love the DAB more then anything else. Talksport has never sounded so good. The Maxidot integration with Audio, Bluetooth and Nav is pretty slick too.

Question, is the red LED in the door mean't to blink when the alarm is armed?

Mine does

Mine does

Ill need to look for this on mine as it wasnt immediately obvious. My old BMW had a massive big red blinking light hanging from the rear view mirror so it was dead handy to check from a fair distance off if it was indeed locked when those OCD moments kick in.

Its worrying though if someone on your street gets used to the flash and then one day its not doing it they know its unlocked without trying the handle.

Our street is posh as heck so no minkers near me. :)

Seeing the out-of-place budget brand 'Skoda' will have the opportunistic scroats rumaging through the boot and glovebox in no time then!

LOL.

Im hoping the "baby on board" sticker will make them realise that this is obvioulsy a very sensible gentleman who has clearly re-prioritised his life to best suit his new arrival but clearly has the money and the means to pursue said little scroats through the courts.

Maybe i should buy a "my last car was a BMW" sticker instead.

Not that im in denial or anything.

Just had my first spirited driving session ...... Bugger me she moves ..... The difference between drive mode and sport mode is a lot more noticeable than I thought ... And chuck in the paddles !! All other road users are targets for an overtake now !! ( in national speed limit zones not built up areas and only to the speed limit of course !!)

And the free gadgets bloody amazing

Sorry to keep on I'm not gloating just chuffed I have it

Is Sport mode a selection on the DSG Model for auto gearing?, Ive got the manual version but curious about the DSG Flappy paddles as

i haven't driven one yet has anyone done a comparison from a standing launch upto say 70mph in both versions.

I'd love to be one of your "targets".... ;)

Good to see someone use it rather than "run it in" :)

Good to see another positive thread on the Blackline enjoy the new wheels.

ps DAB...... I do not like you!

Ran it in for 300 miles but now introducing the rev range to my style of driving .... Forgot to mention how settled the suspension is when you set the vehicle up for a series of fast bends ...... Grip is real world good --- No lowering for me ....I don't think much this side of £50- 60 grand would get away ( speed limits apply of course )

Don't worry Arclight, Grizzle seems to be a little Grizzly today  I seem to have taken the brunt of it for trying to ask a sensible question about running in the engine, never mind, nearly home time which means time for some "spirited driving" as you like to put it!!

Brooksuk ..... Forget all others just enjoy the ride , spirited or otherwise ( but spirited is the way forward ) ..... Just remember the golden rule ... Keep it rubber side down !! ( don't be the first with pics of a ****ted blackline eeek ! )

Sorry lol Eurocarparts are gettin my back up today lol.

Spirited = pottering along at 1500rpm. :p

Spirited = only hitting 40 mph twice ...... Once leaving the drive and once landing again lol

yup.

i personally hate "S" mode - it keeps the engine revved too high in every gear.

"D" does a very good job for me.

"M" with paddles occasionally, when tackling windy roads or numerous roundabouts.

BTW to the query if the LED is supposed to blink when locked yes it is so long as you haven't clicked the lock button twice; this deactivates the deadlocks and this is advertised by the fact that the light no longer blinks even though the car is locked. Common misconception is that the light flashes to indicate that the alarm is armed; its armed regardless.

Try this....open drivers window, lock car with one click. Light will flash. Attempt to open the door using the interior door handle, won't work and the alarm should sound. Unlock the car, then lock the car pressing the button twice. Do the same, door should open (after two pulls I suspect) and alarm will still sound.

Stupid thing with current VAG cars, the key lock oin the door activates the c locking and alarm but only unlocks the drivers door and doesn't deactivate the alarm, if your remote goes wonky you have 15 seconds or so to stick the key in the ignition and power up or the siren sounds.
