How long should brand new drop links last?

I put a set on my Furby three months ago and they are phooked already, less than 4000 miles!

What's that all about then? :wonder:

I thought they would last at least 15 / 20K.

I know you get what you pay for, but FFS, they should last longer than that.

Time for a quality set I think. (Aye right, if that's all they are going to last it will be the £10 E-Bay Schneiders).

Agreed, they can sometimes fail pretty fast. After a couple of disappointing sets I opted for uprated Meyle HD ones - they seem better.

Mine lasted approx 2k, I replaced with Skoda ones (55 quid) and they are knocking again.... 5k this time. The new parts are now manufactured in Spain not Czech Republic.The stealer said "we don't sell many of these" - not at that price I replied Time to source a new pair on Ebay.

Don't get ripped off buying OE ones from Skoda, buy the Meyle HD (heavy duty) ones from VWspares - made in Germany, redesigned to be more robust and made with with higher grade materials, they come with a 4 year warranty from Meyle. Only £11 odd each from here http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=178.

Mine were noticeably more beefy looking than the originals which were gubbed.

You'll have to pay more for delivery but give them a ring and they might be willing to just send via post if its a small order. I ordered a bunch of parts for the steering suspension from them. Great company with great prices.

Decided I couldn't wait for the Meyle ones and just went to the local Dingbro, got a set of Delphi drop links, fitted them this morning and we are now back to peace and quiet

(Aye but for how long me thinks?) At least if they go mammarys up I can go back and claim under the years parts warranty

However, in my defence, I have already put up with the noise for over a week, mainly due to not wanting to believe that the links were the problem. I was sure it was the consol bushes because the links were replaced such a short time ago. Just glad it was the cheaper and easier option to replace. :yes:
