Blackline Fuel gauge problem

Featured Replies

Took the old gal in to the dealers today worried my fuel gauge had stopped working. The dealer checked it out and confirmed everything was ok. 'Don't worry sir you must have filled it up to the brim at the garage but it'll start moving again in a couple of hunderd miles. We can sell you a TFSI if you wish' they said ' the gauge moves nearly twice as quick in that' ;)

They must think you've drowned the needle

Always love getting about 120-150 miles on a long run before it moves :D As Clarkson would say "it runs on the tears of squirrels"

I can beat that for lack of fuel gauge movement - my Blackline came with a full tank of fuel when I picked it up 4 and a half weeks ago and it's still got almost half a tank left. That said, it has been off the road at the dealers for almost 3 weeks now.

I bet i'm having more fun though and less stinky hands. ;)

I always use the disposable gloves in garages because of diesel smell :)

I always try to make sure that I only use it just after the wife has filled it up ;)

Mine has a needles width from full from start of last month and I expect that will see me through until March :p (not joking)

Have you done a lot of reversing? Scientifically proven to refill the tank.

I did exactly the same only when I got back home there was a taxman at the door. I had to go through all my finances with him that afternoon as he was convinced that all the extra money in my bank account was laundered!!! Be careful Littleade the taxman may be watching you.

You would hate my job then. I get covered in aviation fuel and/or engine oil pretty much daily. The first thing I do when I get back in after work is have a shower to get it off but you can still smell the aviation fuel on your hands and hair until you have had a second shower.

Come to think of it I should get paid extra for the amount of shower gel I get through. 3 showers in a day, it must add up.

Undoubtedly more fun was had in my old TFSi - but only rarely as my long term average of 24 mpg was dampening my spirits somewhat.

As for smelly hands, my local fuel purveyor seems to keep the derv handles cleaner, as they are a lot less prone o making my mitts stink than the super unleaded pump was ( and it happens half as often ;))

Is that some sort of ufamism for all the time you spend at the dealers ??

come on Griz, join us on the dark side ..... it's more fun with stinky hands

My fuel gauge seems to be working very well...

Mine moves from the full marker as soon as I drive off the petrol station forecourt and within a few miles it's down to the next indicator mark.

I'm PAYE so unlike some have little to fear from the taxman! I did consider doing what Chappers does and wait for the wife to fill my car up, but personally the way my wife drives I'd rather fill her car up to keep her away from my baby! (She's not driven it yet......)

2.5K miles and my fuel gauge is working too well :giggle:
