Digital sound processor

Featured Replies

I'm in need of an upgrade to the sound of my Columbus as no matter how hard I try, I can't make it anything less than unbearably harsh and shrill when at mid-level or above volume. It is the one thing about my car that I don't love.

So, I've decided to spend some money to make it sound good.

From what I've read online the Columbus puts out a speaker-level output which is heavily equalised internally. It would seem that a digital sound processor is what I need to give a flat signal which will allow me to amplify the speakers (which will be changed) and make the car sound as good as it is in every other respect.

The two devices that seem to be best see to be the Audison Bit 10 and the JL Cleansweep, neither of which are cheap but come highly recommended. Has anyone else got any experience of either?

Audison bit 10 is an amazing but of kit... Pricey but well worth it providing your fitting decent amps to it.

There are two versions of the bit 10 so you need to work out which you need.

The JL clean sweep I think is really if you just want to use the oem headunit and amps, not for the full eq. JL also do an eq called the MSE-8 I believe.

Take a trip to www.talkaudio.co.uk and ask in the SQ/technical section. You will get answers from the top sq guys from the uk and europe. If you dont get your answer there you'd be hard pushed to find it anyware else lol
