Old Group Buy....

There are three types available.

Blackvue 400G HD v2 (with 16gb card)

Blackvue 380G HD (with 8gb card)

Blackvue 300 (with 4gb card, old model with no GPS or HD)

The details on the first two models can be found here:

400G HD: http://www.incarcame...R400G_HD_V2.php

380G HD: http://www.incarcame...ue_DR380_HD.php

The last model available has been discontinued, but I've found a batch available.

The 300 model does not have GPS or HD, records in VGA(640x480) at 30 frames per second and comes with a 4gb card.

It's an ideal budget solution.

But please bare in mind that as an old stock unit it does not have a one year warranty like the other units. It comes with 8 months.

The prices are as follows, including delivery, which are significantly under RRP:

Blackvue 400G HD v2 (with 16gb card) = £210

Blackvue 380G HD (with 8gb card) = £170

Blackvue 300 (with 4gb card) = £95

A deposit of £30 per unit will be required by Thursday 15th December.

Delivery will be before Christmas.

I am doing it because I think on the roads today, with insurance claims the way they are, a Drive Recorder is well worth having and the more people with them the better.

You don't need to justify yourself BossFox, i think most people know you won't be creaming any profits from this.

I saw your last Group Buy and was tempted then but a little too late and since buying the DR400 v.2 myself, i've found it really useful.

To anyone reading this and feeling a little unsure, stop thinking and buy one. Just check out the number of reviews, etc on YouTube for these cameras and the quality is outstanding for something so small.

If finances hadn't been stretched this month, i would have gone for the DR380 just for HD. ;)

Is the software mac compatible. I was looking at these before and I'm sure I read it was PC based only.

I'd look my self but I'm at work at the moment.

Even if not HD - 640*480 @ 30 fps will be enough to evidence the twunt who hits you.

I think on the mac, you only get basic viewing and can't edit like you can on PC.

Not 100% sure though.

This is true, it's PC based software. Although I was told the MAC version is due out in the spring.

Shirt, I paid £259 for my 400, delivered three weeks ago, I wish somebody would have said this was going to happen. My crystal ball didn't see it coming either.

James, I did a group buy at the begining of the year and wasn't planning another.

Then a few people ran into the back of me last week and I figured the more people have these the better, so thought I'd better pull my finger out and do it again...

Good idea, I am amazed at the quality of the 400, even in the dark it is really good, it will be even better when the software works on a Mac.

So all in all I was happy to pay the extra as it is worth every penny, I have even bought the extra cable and holder so as I can use the camera in the Fabia.

My only concern is it getting nicked, as you know up here on Merseyside things can go walk about, just last night a Ford Focus had the side window put through, other end of the housing estate but still. So I am not benefiting from the parking mode as I take it in the house!

How long is the power cable?

  • Author

Off the top of my head they are around 3 metres.

If you need an exact length I'll find one and measure it.

No that's fine that should be more than enough

The cable is 4.5 metres, way too long for me, the one in the Yeti is neatly coiled up in the side of the fuse box, I got a piggy back fuse off Ebay for £2, it is really easy to fit, this runs to a cigarette lighter socket also bought off ebay and then the cable plugs in.

However can you cut the socket off and feed a straight 12v into the camera or does the socket have a transformer in it?

I've hardwired mine into the car - only needed about 2 metres (if that) of the wiring. Enough to get from the fuse box area, up the A pillar trim, and tucked behind the edge of the roof lining. Means the only cabling I see is about the 3" from the roof lining down to behind the rearview mirror. Works well. (and I think I sold the "new" cigarette lighter fitting + spare 1 metre of wiring on Ebay for a quid or something :D)

Wouldn't mind some links for the stuff you need to hard wire it. Provided it's not difficult I'd rather do that than run a cable round doors and under seats to get to the socket

Anyone with half decent electrical knowledge should be able to do it easily. Simply find a switched live wire with a fairly beefy fuse (the cameras are not voltage sapping, so not an issue really) and just splice in the wire from the camera's cable, chopping off the cigarette lighter. The earth will just need mounting to the chassis somewhere near wherever the switched live is found. :)

I used one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Add-A-Circuit-Piggy-Back-Standard-Blade-Fuse-Holder-Brand-New-/181005502987?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item2a24c4ca0b&_uhb=1, simply removed a 10 amp fuse which then gets replaced into the holder closest to the pins, push the holder into where the fuse came out, then add a 5 amp fuse to the other space, crimp the camera live into the bullet, crimp a round connector to the earth and fix it behind a screw on the fuse box area (it is on a galvanised metal brace bar on the yeti)
