Jabba Remap

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I realise that this subject may have been covered in great length somewhere in the archives, but I am considering a Jabba remap on my "furby" vrs. Can anybody provide me with accurate before and after in gear times and also top speed and 0-60. I would be very grateful for any info anybody has, or indeed if anybody can highlight any possible downsides.

Many Thanks

Dave

One big downside is that you've voided your warranty ;)

Chris

And potentially reduced the engine lifespan.

And definetly reduced the clutch life.

You're insurance will increase, but then again the car will be much quicker. Also, as far as warranty goes you'll only lose those items directly caused by the remap.

Mmmmm...Interesting! Please all that have had engines go bang after a Jabba remap and clutch failure post here! Oh and all that have had warranty issues! Come on guys whats the problem...Surely more BHP and torque in the old girl is worth a lot more? Iv'e had re-mapped cars before and never suffered problems and i think that modern engines are more than capable of handling more power and torque than is standard! Manufacturers have to tune down on mass produced cars in order to satisfy EU regs. Mine is currently running 190BHP and 423NM torque, courtesy of Jabba! It's well quick, showed a TT Quattro a clean pair of heals recently and the guy was gobsmacked

My remap will probably take a few k's off the overall engine life. Perhaps down from 200 to 190k before a major rebuild. Then again it will be a handfull of owners and many years away from me by then.

Clutch life depends on usage as well as power. I could live with putting a new clutch a little more frequently if need be.

The fabia is a nice warm hatch - probably the best out there. No need to chip it - except that when you do the overtaking punch is really devastating. I don't need the rawness of a CTR or a Clio 182 but want to overtake like one - and now I can.

Everything else I love about the Fabia is the same as pre Jabba. To me a result but we all have our own views on this.

Thanks for your help guys, still looking for figures though to help me decide. I'm aware of the warranty issues and shortened engine life (possibly). One or two chips on shoulders for some reason?

I agonised over the warranty issues of a remap before making up my mind and visiting Jabbasport when the car was 15 months old. It has turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. Don't get hung up over before and after figures - just enjoy the remap and the transformation in how the car performs. :D

get it remapped, sit back and :) but remember those 312mm brakes and callipers.

Never mind the figures, its how the car feels by the seat of the pants that matters :)

Figures tell very little, its how it drives that counts.

Our Octy 110 Diesel which Jabba mapped to 164 bhp has consistently shown a clean pair of heels to the smaller TT's which are meant to be 180 bhp. the Diesel wins with all the extra torque it develops.

My 4x4 which gave a figure of 250 bhp on the rollers is marginally quicker than a standard BMW M3 in a straight line race although the rev limiter has been mapped higher to get the speed. I havent managed to get it out the other side of the red yet in top but Im trying !!

Bag a ride in a mapped car & see what you think, I will predict you will be amazed how much difference there is & how much more freely the car revs. Theres bound to be a good selection of re mapped cars at the track day on the 18th, why not come along to that.

Just wondered which remap was best for my 4x4.Is the cost they give on the site the exact price you pay..

Looking forward to getting it done..

All the best Jay Ivey..

ps. Anyone recommend where I should go for springs to lower it too.And cost..

If you go for a Jabba remap via a BRISKODA group buy the price is 427.50GBS. Normal price is 475GBS.

Have a look in BRISKODA Promotions if you're interested.

Oh and make sure you get the cupra intake and green panel filter before a remap should be worth about 10 bhp in total :D

You will also find that after a remap you can keep with a CTR and outrun a 172 in a straight line in theory.

Which model of M3 would that be then?

Most seem to be around 12s to 100mph which you (and me) could only ever dream of without a turbo upgrade.

Warranty = your choice

Insurance = No choice, has to be done. Just make sure you get it checked BEFORE getting it remapped. Mine allowed PD160 intake, Strut & green filter at no cost, but won't touch a remap...

Insurance cost can scream up.

That said, if you go for a specialist insurer you may be fine and get a reasonable premium. Under 25 & you want a remap you'll struggle to get a great deal.

In practice - subject to the usual caveat regarding the fact that the CTR and 172 I encountered recently may have been:

a) Not trying

B) Inept drivers

But I don't think so!

Have fun

No...

My brother owns a 172 and we freely rag the life out of them from a standing start and there is nothing between them to 90+ where I pull away slightly, I also think you'll find my brother is an excellent driver and very good at shifting, his car is also IMO one of the quicker cars out of the factory, in mind it can keep with a scooby wrx sportswagen.

With regards to a CTR, well im unsure, 0-120 it didnt pull a bean on me and I didnt pull on it, bearing in mind I was behind it and he certainly seemed to be giving it 100%, are you the inept driver when racing one???

Please dont take this as a dig, but you are making sweeping statements.

I have also driven my brothers 172 whilst he was in my vRS and again the result was the same.

Think of it this way, one has 168 bhp (172ps) weighs 1120 kgs and 200 Nm of torque, the other one has 190 bhp, 311 lb/ft of torque (sorry havent worked this out in nm), and you should get similar 0-60 runs.

Here is my Elvington 1/4 mile effort.

0 - 60 (Secs) : 6.63

0 - 100 (Secs) : 17.08

60 - 100 (Secs) : 10.45

Quarter Mile (Secs) : 15.04

Terminal Speed (MPH) : 93.81

Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 14.84

Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 95.45

hellfire what is a drag strip 1/4 mile? is that a standing start? if it is they are truely impressive times.

Tom.

Yes standing start from Elvington 1/4 mile a few months back prior to getting the TT vents, I did have the parcel shelf out and the rear tyres pumped up a few PSI, also I had the spare wheel out. The car had covered just 10k, it's now touching 14k and feels even more punchy.

The 0-6/100 run was done prior to the 1/4 mile time (same day but setup to measure 0-60's :D).

Well put Hellfire :rofl::thumbup:

No meant as a sweeping statement. I was trying to be modest regarding my cars performance before someone else read the post and said "yeah but how do you know the renault driver was really trying?"

Blonde moment  not sure I follow what you saying "yeah but how do you know the renault driver was really trying?".

Crickey that is fast...

Which means 0-62 on the normal road will be 7 dead and a 1/4 mile would be around 15 seconds, I was very lucky on the start, a fluke quick reaction time.

The figures above were taken for the best time at each, I did the strip x2 1/4 mile and managed a 14.84 as shown above and a 15.3 (the effects of wheel spinning are evident), and a 0-60 in 7.14, again with wheelspin & slightly slow change into 3rd (I didnt dump the clutch fully)!

reaction time should have no affect on your overall time. you are only timed once you cross the beam. Tom.
