Ebay dash cluster - LED conversion trial

Featured Replies

I have a mk1 vrs, and am tempted to change the LED colour of the dials. Seeing that I dont want to bugger mine up, can I buy a second hand one on fleabay to have a go on?

Such as: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5d366bd9ba

Will this be able to plug into my car to see if it lights up? Would this cause any problems with my imobiliser due to it having a different code to my cluster?

Thanks, Mike

**EDIT**

Plus I could use the needles on my vrs cluster :p

I think the immobilser for the fabia is in that unit, so it wont start :p

Yeah I know it wont start, but just wondering if I can plug it in to see if it lights up as it should, but without leaving fault codes etc in the ECU :)

Maybe not worth the effort and money on the old dash.. I think theres someone on here that does it quite cheap..No idea who though!

It is and you only have to check out Dark_Hero's and Gee's Project Thread to see the work he can do.

Yeah, but he is quite a distance from me. Im already pretty handy with an iron, just wondering if I could power the thing up and see if the lights work :p

Although im sure I could figure out the pin configurations, must only be 12V input....

Yes you can plug it in as long as its the correct part number - there are differences. Won't start the car but did not show up any errors on mine when I tried it.

Dark_Hero will do most of it by post, but If you are intent on doing it yourself use that cluster to practise on first - thats what I did.
