Oem panel filter, choices?

Featured Replies

Went to order a new panel filter yesterday and noticed our system had a new style available, so I ordered both to see what the difference was

this is what turned up

According to the brief description, the "new" one has the extra sponge/foam layer stuck to it for better filtration.

But to be honest it looks a lot more restrictive?

Anybody been using the filter on the right? Any better/worse?

Which one is OE?

the left one is the oe one, that I ordered last time, the right one is a new one they offer. Just wondered if anyone else has this filter?

I have a K&N panel in mine - does what is says - they had them on offer at Demon Tweeks

To me it does look more restrictive, but it will be cleaner air that gets thrwe, but also how well stuck is the foam? would hate it to go threw the turbo!

Isn't the piece of foam on the wrong side of the filter for there to be any danger of it getting to the turbo?

Nope the foam goes to the bottom of airbox

Looks more restrictive to me also I had a pipercross and was fitted less than a year ago and it was Absolutly discusting and caked in oil so wen for the own on the left cant tell a diffrence and tbh I think my mpg has gone down could be wrong lol

Its a winter filter made for bad conditions and not really necerssary in the UK.

lol i fitted that 'new' style air filter more than two years ago when i had my fabia. never seen a oe airfilter without the sponge bit tbh
