Replacing front fog light bulbs

Featured Replies

I'd like to swap the standard H3 fog lamp bulbs for a pair LED's, how difficult is it to access the fog light units and do the change? I did a search but I can't find a guide on the procedure, apologies if there is one knocking about.

Something like these, would they trigger a bulb failure warning on the dash?

i have led fog lights. its easier to flick the front bumper off to do them. the light units come apart and are easy to get into. if i remember right i had to glue something together in there but icant for the life of me remember what it was! easy job for a competent diyer.

Fairly easy to take the bumper off isn't it, never done it but sounds fairly easy. You had to glue something, does that mean you have to break something then to complete the job?

Foglights won't trigger canbus error on dash.

Bumper off is easiest, but you can just about change them without removing the bumper. See http://www.forgemotorsport.com/media/FabiaVRS%281%29.pdf for guide on bumper removal.

These lights are ok for show, but completely useless for real world use - but if all you want is a sexy look, do it!!

Just be aware that foglights should only be used when its foggy, use at other times for "SHOW" is illegal and can land you with a non endorsable fine should the policeman who stops you decide thats the way forward, but yes bumper off is the easiest way.

Thanks, so it's deffo a bumper off job, still fairly straight forward :)

Yes, they do pop off, but that does not give you access to the lamps to change the bulb.

Never taken the bumper off to change on either of the two times I've swopped mine out. Nearside is a right fiddle though..

Re: using them on road - being LED's, could you not argue they are DRLs, not fogs?

So you remove the inserts around the fog lights and this gives you enough access to change the bulbs? is it just a pull off job for the inserts?

I don't drive around with the fogs on all the time in any weather just for 'show' but I could say they are DRL's if questioned .... :)

Each unit is held in with only a couple of torx screws, so you just pop off the panel and undo the foglight itself?
