Few weeks off now while I get another door fitted and hopefully the weather will stay nice so I can get it painted. Also got some paint for the wheels and a steering guard I'm collecting

Picked up a steering guard yesterday so gave it a coat of paint (same colour as the wheels are going). Hopefully get it on later.

Also got some 10x15 wellers coming, need a refurb but were cheap and they'll allow me to fit 33x12.50x15 tyres :)

Won't you need some extensive guard trimming to fit 33's?

  • Author

Yep! Cut all arches out to accommodate them but I'll fit 2" flexi arches so it'll not be seen.

Just got a bit left to do for the 1st coat but its dropped a bit to cold for the paint

Liking the NATO green. :)

Nice to see you got a tubular without the high-lift jacking holes.

That's where they split if you catch the end, folding into the wing.

  • Author

Dont say that It has got hi lift jack points on it :(

It looks a whole lot better now I've rollered it, it took me an hour if that. Shame it dropped a bit cold would've liked to have got it all covered in the 1st coat today.

Yes, but not right through the middle of the tubular section llike some have. :)

  • Author

I've just seen one on another truck and they don't look to clever tbh

I know, I had one.

It's like taking a tong tube and drilling a weak spot right through it...

Caught the corner on a tree and it just snapped where the jacking point was.

I liked your old filter head better. This new one looks like a bad flow restriction.

An alternative is to get a 45 degree bend and run it up so it finishes in the gap between the light and the roof bar. Pointing backwards.

It will still flow better than your new ram-head and pointing backwards it will suck in less thrown mud and water.

Don't worry about ram air effects. They are are a fairy tale at legal speeds. If you can do 300km/h then it's worth considering.

  • Author

Its a proper Southdown snorkel so can't see it being a bad flow, the old one let water into the filter and airbox as it was no good hence why it was swapped over. I'll spin it around when I'm offroading so no mud can get in but it catches on the end light so I'm restricted on movement.

What is the turbo doing badly?

Not boosting above 12psi, fins are damaged and the bearings are going

Oh right.

200tdi isn't it? get a new CHRA and throw it into your existing housings.

http://www.melett.com/turbo-parts/1-A-1060.html

Melett are guaranteed good, chinese CHRA's are dirt cheap. Just be careful if anyone is selling you an "upgrade" that it doesn't kill all low rpm response.
