Headlights dim

Featured Replies

Hello,

I noticed over the last few mornings when it is dark and I reverse into my work car parking space, my headlights dim quite considerably.

Am I right thinking that this could be battery or alternator related ? Or is it normal?

I have searched the forum and the main result is mk2 DRL's.

Thanks,

Battery at a guess, the power steering takes a lot of power since its electronic and at this time of year with headlights, cold etc. this kind of thing shows a weak battery, particularly if yours is still original.

You can narrow the search down to fabia 1 only if you do an advanced search (much better)

Anyway, yeah if the battery is going down the headlights tend to dim and the powerd steering goes abit heavier time to time.

Thanks Gents, very quick early morning reply.

Shifting around steering wheel will draw power from the battery as steering power pump uses electric, so lights will dim while this is happening, but is temporary.

Suggest get your battery tested first, and if OK, get power output on alternator tested secondly.
