Featured Replies

We have identified your vehicle as either a SKODA Octavia II 2.0 TDi PD VRS/RS (QG0/2 - 125kW) (2005-) or SKODA Octavia II 2.0 TDi PD VRS/RS (QG1 - 125kW) (2005-).

Price based on supplying up to 5 litres of oil as your vehicle requires.

The following oils may be suitable for your selected vehicle.

Premium

Castrol Edge 5W30 Full Synthetic (includes oil filter) Premium oil suitable for most petrol and diesel cars including BMW and Mercedes (excludes Volvo petrol turbo after 2004)

Suitable for SKODA vehicles including the Octavia II 2.0 TDi PD VRS/RS (QG0/2 - 125kW) and Octavia II 2.0 TDi PD VRS/RS (QG1 - 125kW)

£38.70

Well that's my quote! Lists my car as a PD but for that price all is forgiven!

Where is Silver he'll love these prices! :p

Does the sump tray always have to be removed to carry out an oil change? I don't know.. Maybes this is where they make their money back by charging a crazy fee?

I keep looking at the wording but it's seems they are supplying the oil..

Yep they deffo are supplying the oil, I'd be tempted to remove the sump tray on the car park if they tried charging silly amounts to remove & refit it!

National Tyres and Autocare?

I think I'd rather do it myself!

Opie Oils are doing Castrol Edge 5W30 for £33.00, a genuine filter can be had for £5 on eBay.

I wonder if they drop the oil through the sump plug or suck it out through the oil filler hole?

If they use the sump plug make sure they replace it with a new one.

I thought they kept prices down by sucking oil out rather than draining throug he sump plug

That's supposed to be the reason, I know that there has been some 'healthy' debates on here on the pro's and con's of sucking!

Why have I got the feeling this thread is gonna go "off topic!"

Used them for this offer on my old 330d. Spot on and cheap. You can't even buy oil and a filter for that much (opie excluded)

Drained from sump

I just checked it out and it came to £42, 6 litres 5w30 Castrol Edge.

Also noticed during checkout, just checking, there was an option for an engine flush, is this a good idea especially for £8 i hope they dont just pour a can of that chemical flush in with the old oil before they drop the plug.

Thats exactly what an engine flush will be from these guys.

Cheaper doing the oil change yourself.

I thought this was a fair price, i did my own oil change a few months back, oil was about £36, filter and new sump bolt another few quid and i was a little over their price, and you dont have to get your hands dirty under your car.

I bought quantum off ebay after a good few days trying to find it cheaper aswell.

The Octavia sump holds 4.5 litres including the filter housing so not sure why you'd need 6 litres.

I'm betting they won't give you the spare oil to take away!

Their Dumfries branch did my 406 HDi years ago on one of these deals in middle of a long drive back to NI as I had time to kill and had seen the add in paper. Told me when I came back from cafe round the corner that it had been low I said no it wasn't I needed to go to get ferry they had engine running so little use checking it then, on way back I was on a steep long uphill section and car started to judder..... next morning I drained nearly 7 litres from the car and had to change it again myself. Called them up and they said no they hadn't over filled it I must have and their work is checked by a supervisor and hung up, was aggressive to me on phone. I wouldn't go back to any branch based on that experience on principle and I would implore anyone not to go near that branch at all. PURE SCUM on my poo list for life!

Also tried telling me 406's dip stick marks are all wrong and you cant go off them before I told him how much I drained off it! Absolute scum bag useless thieving moron.

I'd guess they'd just put 6 in and ignore the level if it's like some other fast change places.

Tyre monkey to do my oil?

Nah I'll pass on that one.

Even worse - tyre monkey with a hoover

I would'nt even push my car to any of these ' oil and filter ' cheapo outfits after the experience I had a few years ago....

Had a oil and filter change at the national tyre branch in Leicester, after changing my oil and filter, I only got about a mile down the road when I could smell ' burning ' so I stopped open the bonnet and saw what I can only describe as a ' volcano of erupting oil coming from my oil filler cap ' talk about overfilling !

So immediately returned to the garage where the manager basically ' ripped apart ' the poor young guy who did the oil and filter change, I actually did feel sorry for the young lad as it looked like he was going to start crying at any second....

So nah....they won't be seeing the colour of my money again....ever...

If you do it yourself, you know exactly what oil is in it and you know its done right.

Cheers
