vrs high milage petrol

Featured Replies

At that kinda mileage it'll likely be ex-lease. If so, it should come with a list of everything thats ever been done to the car, right down to bulbs being changed. My old Mondeo ST was bought was just over 80k on it but it came with a spreadsheet print from Lex of everything that'd been done to it, where, when etc. At least then you can have something to backup the claims that its been serviced every x number of miles etc.

Shame that I did totally the opposite and ran it into the ground!

hi all . does anyone know if you can get a roof rack or bars for a mk11 octavia hatchback

Thule will do something that bolts on or Skoda directly (which may well be Skoda branded Thule stuff).

I find it very hard to believe that some of you have never had a problem with your TFSI. You must've just bought it then.

Had mine 2.5 years now and apart from the MAF sensor falling off, not had anything too bad happen...

As I was saying...I have lost the use of mine until Friday as it needs a new ignition barrel, I could'nt get the key in today. Fantastic!

now please dont take this the wrong way but do you think yours is typical of the make or is yours just whats known as a lemon . i think every manufacturer as an indivdual lemon or several within a model range or is it typical ?

i'd have to agree with that, you could have two near identical cars but theres every chance ones just a bad one, you can only do so much homework on a car and take an educated decision but at the end of the day buying a used car always will be a lottery, if you get a good one then great but there will always be a bad one, the mrs is running a beetle with 180K on the clock and its never missed a beat, but ive had a couple of low milers that have been dogs

The problems I encounter are common faults frequently discussed on here, such as DV Valve, ABS Module, PCV Valve, Manifold runner motor, Fuel pressure sensor, Carbon cannister, Rusty sills, Laquer peeling from spoiler. Just to name a few.

sbt - sounds pretty reasonable to me if thats in a garage...

Sounds like you need to look out for any of the issues vRS taxi mentions above!

Forgot to mention the MASSIVE oil consumption all 2.0 TFSI drivers have to deal with, atleast 1 litre to 800 miles. You only have to google '2.0 TFSI oil consumption' to see the major issue with no cure as of yet...

They do not all use a lot of oil, mine has used 1 litre in the last 10000 miles.

All the problems I had with my vRS TFSI was when I first got it! From the address in the owners manual the previous owner was in the RAF and in his last 2 years of ownership it had done 2500 miles, so things like seals had gone and the most expensive thing was the a/c compressor. I put warranty direct on it and luckily everything was sorted with minimal costs. Since then only minor things have gone wrong and they are things that you would expect. Done just over 110k in it now.

I do have the oil consumption, the main dealer told me it does use 1litre of oil per 1000 miles, does seem ridiculous i know, it depends on how you drive the car, floor it all the time and the oil goes down quick but drive sensibly and it lasts a while, I do 100 miles a day to/from work and utually top up once a month. On my drive to work I stick to 60 on the motorway, that way a tank of fuel lasts me a week =)

Skoda recommends 5-30 oil which they sell for around £20 but you can get the same oil in wilkinsons for £11. I use 5-30 or 5-40

I really don't know why 07 vRS Taxi has so many problems, sounds like a dud car to me.

This one does sound like an ex lease and probably serviced regularly but keep in mind how some company car drivers drive... it's not their car and they don't really care about it.

well lads happy days sold mine this morning so the hunt is on . if anyone knows of any decent cars within say 100 miles of manchester please let me know budget is about £7000 ish unfortunately i stiil cant decide petrol or diesel hatch or estate

Good luck. Half tempted to sell you mine!

I reckon the tfsi engine is a gem. Agree on "Friday" cars though. My sister had an Octavia Elegance the same age as mine and it was plagued with electrical faults from new until she replaced it earlier this year.

I bought my car in August 2011 with 44K on it I am the 2nd owner. I don't know why TFSI drivers on here have not posted on this thread confirming the many faults I have had, but I will keep that in mind the next time I am reading their crys for help!
