Dash warning lights

Featured Replies

Today, something bizarre happened. On the way to work, my dash went crazy, every light and beeping went on, oil, pas, airbag, brakes etc... I lost power steering and my indicators stopped working. The rev counter stopped as well but would lift to about 1200rpm (some sort of code?) then back out.

I stopped the car immediatelly, turned it off, waited about 2-3 minutes then restarted it. Now the actual indicators worked but not on the dash and no relay sound was present. I also noticed the dash dimmer stopped working as well. i started driving again and all of a sudden, the indicators and the rev counter started working again, the lights went all off (apart from the airbag light, will need a reset for that one) but the glow plug light was blinking.

When i got to work i turned it off again, waited another 2 or 3 minutes then restarted the car and everything was back to normal apart from the airbag light.

What the bloody hell happened?

Only time I've experienced something similar was in my old '05 Astra... the alternator was goosed.

Not sure if this has happened here, but could be a dodgy wire there as seen/read a couple of threads about this during my time on Briskoda?

I'm sure someone with a better idea will be along shorty

Check your battery earth cable is properly secure.

I had a similar issue, although the car died completely after beeping like mad.

An update on this little(?) problem, everything has been alright since it went mad that day. The airbag light is on but everything else is working just fine... I still don't understand what happened there and i don't seem to find absolutelly nothing similar on the web!

+1 check, clean and re-grease battery leads on battery and the earth lead where it joins the strut top
