I have used these style holders on a number of cars and I would definitely advise fitting when you are not going to use the car again for a while. In my experience they only fall of if you fit them and drive straight away.

Edit I have a Richbrook holder fitted at the bottom left of the screen and it is holding fine.

Quality of Richbrook products improved (colour fading) in the last couple of years? About 3 years ago I bought 2 sets of door pins, one set in black for my previous car,Vectra GSi and another (silver) for my boys Astra. In less than a year the black ones faded to a gold colour (Brimma will be made up if the black products still do this). In the end I swapped mine for the boys silver ones as his astra is a goldy colour.
