Featured Replies

Buy it!

The front splitter is horrible and the visible fmic pipes are trash but with a bit of fettling could look good

Anni splitter and lower grilles put back in it would look good

I have looked at this myself mate and think it is a nice lookin motor.

Will it be of any use to you though ? Thought you needed a big motor for work ?

I have just been offered a mk4 golf gti for my octy and i am seriously considering the offer

Double post off my gay samsung tablet.

Don't do it mate. You will regret it

I have owned Golf 1.8T and although nice cars they are a lot less character than the Octy. The fact the Octy does not appeal to a lot of Golf owners and various folks actually makes it more appealing to me.

The boot space is far better

Although I am getting twitchy with mine for a Focus ST........

well bowders, along with gee (and all other opinions too of course) and steve 89 for starting the list system, im keeping her.

today i gave the interior a proper prochem machine clean and tomorrow i will treat her to a complete outer shell treatment, wax sealers the works, then paint the wheels.

Decision made - the octy is much more unique in vrs guise

Good lad.. the golf would look too Chintzy..............lol

I had a full valet on mine yesterday at my local Asda's. Only place I take it other than doing it myself. They had it for 2 hours whilst i did xmas shopping. When I came out the car was under there big gazebo trying to keep dry from the rain whilst they were waxing it for the second time. 5 ppl were working on it lol. (last one of the day). A lot of ppl were looking at it and stating nice car, made me feel good. There is nothing better to motivate you when you see your car all waxed up.

So today I did a top coat of collinite over the car and polished the engine bay up with autosol alloy polish and all plastics and hoses got a coating of autoglym protector.

Chassis notch is common on the Golfs that share the same suspension set up. Also you probably need to change your ARB links to get the ARB away from the drive shaft, or replace with same set up as VRS where ARB is hooked up differently.

aye i get a little arb rub aswell, fashioning a bracket for that, just need a notch bit for drilling, then weld it up and seal.

need some 3mm spacers too as my adjusters foul the tyre

I had 8mm spacer for same reason as when i took wheels off i had rubbing on the KW adjusters. Mind you the spacers cracked so don't get the CM ones.

end up this

aye didnt notice at first but drove a bit and detected a rubber burning smell, so ive gotta space it the drop again

Yup cm ones are garbage! They are too tight! They need to remeasure the centre bore on there machines! Mines are tosh aswell and im expecting them to be cracked when i take the wheel off

Glad you chose to stick with the octy we all fancy a change around winter time when the list of summer jobs comes up :)

I would keep the octy. I have a mk4 1.8t and a mk1 vrs octy and i prefer the octy.. Also that golf has been about n.ireland i think i seen it at a show last year.
