Superb green line - low ride height

Featured Replies

Lads just a quick note to say how great the MAD spring assisters are on my 2011 green line. The car was very low and despite new skoda springs been fitted under guarantee and having a row with Skoda there was no improvement. My dealer was brilliant but skoda hq was very poor - They maintained that the ride height was within tolerance by 2mm with nothing in the car!! In the end I fitted the MAD spring assisters on the back only and that sorted the problem. The car looks better and there is no negative handling or rough ride.

I have no connection with MAD other than been a happy customer and want to spread the word.

Thanks

What problem did you have?

have you got any before and after pictures

If I understand MAD springs assisters concept correctly, then your car height was ok without a load but too low with load?

The Greenline has lower suspension than every other model in the Superb range, same as Octavia and Fabia Greenline variants.

I am guessing ba9776's Greenline was bottoming out on those infamous Irish country roads ?

They've got a lot worse over the last year...

Must have been very heavily loaded - mine has coped fine with everything that I've thrown at it (and into it) - I'd be very interested to know what the problem was

Sorry lads background - When I bought the car new I thought that the rear height above the tyre in the unloaded state was quite low. I brought it back to dealer who agreed that it was riding low. Official response from Skoda that the tow bar would bring the height down. I disputed this as the boot was empty, the tank half full yet was only within 2mm of lower tolerance. There is also no caution about fitting a tow bar. The dealer pushed skoda and got the rear springs replaced - Result slight improvement but not great hence my joy with the MAD springs.

I agree some roads are quite poor over here but the problem was the springs not fit for purpose. I am aware that the UK models are fitted with a lower spring which is ideal for motor way economy etc but I like my car to look good rather than listening to comments like - Did you get it lowered??

The car otherwise is great.

Cheers!!

If it that low and you are towing then maybe fitting non greenline springs would be better.

You mean the single lane dual carriageways? - tarmac for the wheels, and a grass central reservation?

I visit West Cork often - I know!

I made the mistake of leaving a long 300mm lens on a camera and just putting it in a soft bag in the boot of my car while driving near Cork about a decade ago. I hit a massive bump at about 40mph on a long straight road and the whole car left the tarmac and crashed back down onto its bump stops. When I opened the boot later, it had bent the camera lens where it mounts onto the camera, so the lens was about 10 degrees out of true. Cost me £350 to get it fixed. So yes I have had my fill of Irish roads as well.
