Well if my mates ZR is anything to go by, the MG owner will take the car back to the garage faster than you can say "ere where's my sump"

By all accounts the build quality leaves much to be desired and the interior, aaaaaaaahhhhhhkkkkkuuuuuurrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh! :poo:

Not great!!

Bought my beast from Forward Motors - nice people!! :thumb:

I had a test drive when looking for a replacment for my Primera GT.

I was after a sporty estate and was *highly recommended* by the dealer of course to endure 40 mins of rover 200 driving to his other lot to have a go in avery very well priced ZT-T with all the trimings (ex demo).

On the straights and m-ways it was a bloody nice car, very comfortable, however the very first push on a roundabout and well *wow* the understeer was unbearable, my old xantia tdi stuck better.

I am very very glad Ian picked up my post on Evo for I would of ended up in a galant; also disapointing in performance and handling, but great looking and would of prepared me for the cabin of the VR4

Yup - looks like a good article. Mag looks good too. Although they seem to say that the MG offers more driver satisfaction?

A friend of mine has a ZS180 (in yellow  ) and the handling is fantastic - when I had the impreza (Modified Jap Import) his 180 was just as quick through the twisties!

However - bits of the trim have come off in his hands and part of the dash was missing when he picked up new  :x Not a quality product and it still has a definite 80's interior (albeit with yellow flashes!)...

  • 2 weeks later...

A friend of mine has a ZR-160 and I always take the mickey out of the build quality.

At the end of the day they are built by Brummies who couldn't give a toss.

I took the vRS for a spin and scared the crap out of the salesman when i wanted to get through some traffic lights on amber at a range of 800 yards. It was a right turn at about 45MPH (doesn't sound fast well you try it on bury new road). If it hadn't been for the traction control I would have ended up in the garden opposite the traffic lights. Upset a few BMW drivers on the way back to the dealership. I do not think many have seen the rear end of a skoda while their foot has been nailed to the floor.

Czernusz,

Indeed I took a 4x4 on demo after driving the vRS, having been in a modified 4x4 I knew they could handle corners quite well, as did the salesman, but his comment: it's good to go for a test drive with somebody who drives the car. Shame it only had 200 miles on the clock...

hehe can't wait for the next gen 4x4 to come out then.

As your close to a few of us, why not come and have a chat one thursday evening near bolton. There is a collection of 4x4 and vRS, even the odd Subarau, have a chat and maybe take a ride and see what you think, sadly no l&k yet. Basically I took a ride in Ian's and less than 2 weeks later I was in my Skoda...hummm wonder if that lad's on commission. :D

Hear from you soon,

OK, Stop press. I have an important announcement to make. You know Skoda made 100 limited edition vRS in white with all the rally lettering? well Alex Lawrie skoda in liverpool have one going for sale it has ESP and bum warmers (a must for the winter) and Xenon headlights. Looks a real Monster.

While we are on the subject I went and had a look at the L&K again! and took the A4 150BHP engine out for a spin, it was nippy but i should not have driven that white rally vRS before. Yes it is a vRS and I have been mythering my fleet manager so as I c an order one and get this Passat back ASAP.

By the way thanks for all your advice everyone and yes I may just come to that meeting and thank you for the invite.
