Yokohama AD08

Featured Replies

As above, I am to fit 4 new tyres this month.

Does anybody have any experience of the Yokos?

I drove a friends vRS Fabia with the toyo proxes and did not rate them in the wet compared to the factory fitted PZero Neros!

I have done a few searches and found many people rate the Uniroyal rainsports but I am planning a trip to the Nurburgring in May and would like a sports tyre fit for purpose on a track.

Best price I have found £420 for the full set 205/45/16.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

?

I use a pair of these for motorsport and they are awesome when it's bone dry and I've got a bit of heat into them. However, the slightest bit of moisture and they're useless. Case in point, I was competing at an Autosolo (bit like an autotest, but faster and less technical) in september and it ****ed down all day. Those running AD08's really struggled. I was even setting fastest overall test times with my Rover 214 on Michelins, beating some very capable drivers in an MX5, Zetec powered GBS Zero kit car, Lotus elise and an Impreza. Purely because I had loads of grip and they had bugger all.

So IMHO, if you want them for dry track days, I highly recommend them but for daily road driving, forget it, you need to get a fair amount of heat in them to work properly and if it rains, staying on the road will be a challenge.

Suprised by the above comments regarding wet performance as I had the pleasure of 12 laps of Spa in a Clio 172 on these tyres in the wet and thought they were Awsome ?

I wouldn't recomend them for normal road use as a good road tyre will be a better all rounder than these.

I'm off to the ring in May too! Going to the 24hrs.

Got AD08's on mine too and no big problems in the wet at all.

Strange .
