Rear Wiper

Featured Replies

seems to wipe when it wants and then just get stuck :S anyone ever heard of this problem ?

A common issue on the Octavia.

The rear wiper motor is a weak point.

It is possible to try and open them up but most just swap them out.

Sounds like a new motor is required, should be a warranty repair If you have a blackline

our wiper has just packed up this week. Car is three months old. Getting it fixed next week.

Nice to see Skoda are on top of this quality issue after more than 5 years of reported issues with the rear wiper motor

3 months old??.... WTF

Ohh yes these Skoda's are super reliable eh.

NOT.

I couldnt agree more, ive had 4 cars with rear wipers and not one has needed a motor.

Had to change my wiper motor a few months back, although the original unit lasted over 5 years, still a bugger forking out 80 quid for a new one! :@

well mines only a month and a half old lol so it'll defo be a free fix

My wiper motor was replaced by dealer under warranty.

Stopped mid wipe as I was driving off the forecourt having just bought the car.

I did not think too much of it as I was new to the car and thought I had pressed something daft but dealer was honest enough to bring it to my attention and agree to replacement.

Car was just short of third birthday.

That cheap? Some people have not had to deal with VW repair costs. Real wallet emptying stuff on my old Passat. Which I loved and ran for 140,000 miles.

If the motors are that bad are all the vag ones the same Audi etc, if they are different can they be made to fit.

Just Bought my New VRS Estate and day after purchase, I tried the rear wiper for the first time - it didn't work!! How annoying on a brand new vehicle!!!

I totally agree! Same thing with my Blackline. I notice it's only a problem on really cold days though so I guess the motor is weak. I'm going to have to get mine replaced under warranty as well.

Mine on its way back from the dealership as I write. Been told the motor is u/s (obvious!) and they are on Back Order so could be a few weeks!!! Not very happy as it's a known problem

Mine made a funny noise today, like it was really straining and the wiper was going really slow and then it just stopped (in the parked position). I take it my motor has had it too?

It's what happens when you design a motor with fluid flowing through the middle of it!

Never understood why they designed it that way and didn't come up with a separate feed for the washer fluid.

Would expect it to last a bit longer than yours though! Think I got 6.5yrs out of the original....
