Insurance Groups

Featured Replies

Parkers website is both useful and frustrating. Following on from the other thread on insurance group ratings, I found the following:

Elegance 4x4 5dr Estate Octavia - insurance group 14

Elegance 4x4 5dr Hatchback Octavia - insurance group 13

Laurin + Klement 5dr Auto Estate Octavia - insurance group 13

Laurin + Klement 5dr Auto Hatchback Octavia - insurance group 14

Laurin + Klement 5dr Estate Octavia - insurance group 13

Laurin + Klement 5dr Hatchback Octavia - insurance group 14

I wonder why there are differences between the estate and hatch models, and why those differences are inconsistent.

Difference between Hatch and Estate could be to do with cost of repair or something? Not sure why an estate would be more expensive, but I suppose a hefty rear impact would be more likely to damage to the whole skin of the estate...

Weird how it's not consistent though!

Rob.

All estates are a lower group than the hatch apart from the 4x4???

I don't think it's the case for all of them - just the ones I listed. Strange though, eh?

... could be that the 4x4 Estate is more expensive to insure as insurers believe that all 4x4 estate owners are country folk with dogs - dogs might distract owners hence more expensive. ;) Guess thats what happens when the insurer's researcher could only find one owner to collate data for the model :D

Only the owner of a yellow RS could come up with **** like that!

I don't know, there I was trying to be useful to the wider community and I get my head bitten off  Its amazing the aggressive streak that comes out when people start to consider fast cars / modding etc :p
