best first mod for the vrs

Featured Replies

The ARB wont make bumpy roads any worse. Thats dealt with by springs and dampers.

Not totally true...because bars connect one side of the suspension to the other (stating the obvious!) ,they compromise the independent operation of each side, effectively making it stiffer to move.Admittedly ,in practice, small size increases may make little difference, just the theory I'm talking about.

I'd call the standard suspension on my vRS quite supple.I'm going to add both the 20mm eibach springs AND a rear arb,I just hope it doesn't become too hard!!!

Your 100% correct they do connect both sides of the suspension but ultimately the ride quality in my car never changed between having springs fitted orfitting the ARBs.

Mine isnt hard at all. My mate has a set of KW V3 coilovers and his car is horrific to drive/passenger in on normal roads. Mine is only marginally stiffer than stock tbh. I personally wouldn't go any stiffer because then it will be compromised which is something I dont want.

anti roll bar go under the car mate.

I think your on about a strut brace which sits at the top of the engine bay

D'oh. As soon as I read this I realised my mistake. Thanks :)

I'll prob get flamed for this... but isnt one of the best upgrades you can make to the car, is the driver?

While im sure everyone on here is in fact stand-in's for The Stig, its amazing how much you can learn with some proper driver training on a track/airfield with someone that REALLY knows how to drive a car fast. Ive done a few training sessions in cars ive owned and you can drive a standard car a lot faster (or should that be quicker) than a modded car with someone behind the wheel who cant even hold the steering wheel correctly.

Just a thought :)

Is this the correct Whiteline rear sway-bar for the current vRS?

That's the one I have and fits no problem. Although H&R are doing one as well now (25mm I think) which many are saying should be stiffer.

No flaming here, too many people go straight for the physical car mods completely forgetting that they are probably the weakest link.

yes it looks like this fitted . Its a valid point about driver training as well but i think the ARB makes such a difference in normal daily driving to be of benefit all the time not just when pushing on
