Anyone consider an Octavia VRS instead of a Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Do it. If you get a 2.0TSI bolt on an exhaust, intake and a K04 (S3/Cupra turbo) and you'll have about 370Hp/380lbft of torque to play with. the 2.0TSI is more tunable due to having a much better fueling system capable of 150bar whereas the 2.0TFIS even with the upgraded fuel pumps only manages 135bar at the most, hence why the 2.0TSI is more tunable and a much stronger engine.

Thats what you call gains in Hp!!!!!

It makes more power than a 180Hp Fabia vRS at only 3000rpm lol

And believe me, ive driven one. They are incredible. Sub 10 seconds 0-100mph and 30-130mph in about 17 seconds!! There is not much that can keep with one once its rolling. With the right tyres and an LSd thers also 1/4 mile in sub 13 seconds.

  • I find the Fabia ideal for pootling about in - it spends almost all its time in 'D' - very relaxing car to drive.

Sweet, I'm salivating just thinking about it. Please please Rapid Vrs with that engine!! What a machine that would be

Even better strap a gt30 to it and make over 400bhp....thats my plan :D

Thank you for all the feedback.

Decided to put my man part on the block and ordered the Fabia.

Prefer the look, build and quality of the Octavia, but I actually prefer a smaller car with the improved MPG, plus the child in me will enjoy using the supercharger, then the turbo charger, then the supercharger, ha.

Ill be driving the APR Golf R for the next month whilst they try to get rid of the high rpm misfire in the Fabia. Thats closer to 500Hp than it is 400hp lol. Plus its only on a GTx28 turbo. GT30s arent needed till over about 480hp. Their Golf R does a Performance box proven 3.2 second 0-60 and has done the 1/4 mile in 11.6. My Fabia will feel SLOW when its delivered back to me lol

Still to decided wether il k04 it or a gt28 or a gt30 yet.....just what ever i can get set up and running for cheapest while still being reliable

Infact sill to decide wether to get a golf or a octavia

Octavia for stealth lol. Dont get me wrong the GT turbo ranges are unbelievably fast but unless you flat out the K04 will beat them hands down because it spools quicker.

This is a stage 2+ K04 vs Stage 3 GT28. Look at how much more power the K04 has low down. The GT28 isnt up and running until after 4.5k and the K04 runs an extra 100Hp than th eGT28 at 3k because the GT28 isnt on boost att that point. So around town K04 is where its at. Flat out it would muller the K04 though.

The newer GTx28 turbos however spool much faster and make more top end as well. Not cheap though

I don't think you'll regret it, I don't agree with a lot of the pro-Octavia,anti Fabia stuff on here.

It's all a bit subjective.Don't agree with the "build quality" comment either, whatever that really means.

The Octy doors may seem to shut better ,but it's a bigger/heavier car... they are both built by the same company, the shut lines, paint finish, interior materials seem very similar to me and I can't see one being more durable than the other.

I'm thinking of doing the reverse, going from Octy to Fabia as I need to downsize and run something more economical for a variety of reasons. Had Monte as a courtesy car and quality of it seemed good. Felt solid etc but the interior isn't quite as nice as the Octy.

Whats the weight diffrence between the octy and the fab vrs?

1240kg v 1450kg iirc

I considered getting an Octavia vRS, but realised it would be too big for my day to day needs.

Yes, Octavia's are better quality, faster, reliable...but the fabia is always going to come off worse when compared to an Octavia. It's a mini Octavia.

You wouldn't expect a citigo to be the same as a fabia, likewise you wouldn't expect an Octavia to be the same as a superb. It does the job well being a cheap hot(warm)hatch.

Gumby - I see you've also got your Fabia in the fastest colour.

It's all subjective and each car fills a market niche at a price. Fabia small, quick, Octy carries more junk to the tip in one go, quick, bit more expensive. Drive both and don't rely on "partisans" to skew your opinion. Enjoy the Fabia you can always trade it in at a later date if your needs change.

Literally have just sold our vRS estate for a Blackline. Fabia is proving just not quite so big enough for us as a one car family; and as well as it goes have just about had enough of the 31mpg average economy

The Octy is a family car , the VRS is just a warmed up version

I had a Favia vRS for a year, an amazing and fun little car. But every time I drove it I felt like I wanted to give it some all the time, never felt it was a car I could or wanted to potter around in. The kick from the engine and the little whine of the twin charger is great and for a petrol head like me, an addictive noise.

However mine used a lot of oil - about 5 litres in less than 7000 miles. This wasnt the reason I got rid of it, the reason was insuring it as a second car (in the insurers eyes as a new driver - don't ask!) was proving to be expensive and I was waiting for the delivery of my main car the Octavia vRS.

For me they are completely different cars, the Octavia feels easy to potter around in yet has the speed when I need it or want to use it, so the Octavia wins hands down - for my needs - every time in my opinion.

I find the Fabia ideal for pootling about in - it spends almost all its time in 'D' :) - very relaxing car to drive.

Me too... Coming from a Scooby its nice to drive a car that's not shouting at me if I don't drive like I stole it

Indeed. It's a bit like the Incredible Hulk: easy-going most of the time, but "don't make me angry; you wouldn't like me when I'm angry".

Mmm - it seems people have different opinions of what is a pootling car!

I had two Scoobies - a turbo and a WRX PPP. Both seemed perfectly happy pooling around town. I even offered to teach my mum to drive in it; it's perfectly harmless until you boot it...

Indeed it is, but I would always hear voices in my head telling me to gun it... Who am I to argue ;D

"Who am I to argue ;D"

Good point, well made!
