Sherlodge Garage or Beadles Maidstone?

Featured Replies

Trying to work out which dealers will be better to start taking my car to, Sherlodge is closer to me but a lot smaller.

I have looked in the Skoda Dealers in the South and South East section but not had anything posted in there for a while :)

Any recent experiences will be appreciated.

Sherlodge is near to me, I have used them for yearly service and factory recalls. Found there service and customer service to to very good. No problems for me.

I have purchased both my present and previous Vrs from beadles and each had one service at the dealer. I have had no real issues as I have had nothing go wrong.

While buying both I had to chase up for replies but that was sales staff.

hi i have used both in the past two years in my opion the service is far better at beadles.i had trouble with my Columbus it took sherlodge 6-7 weeks to resolve the problem and replace it i just had the feeling they did not know what they are doing and that was not the first time.as for the distance i was in the same boat as you but in most cases beadles will collect and return your car for free or give you a loan car.sherlodge replaced two alloy wheels under warranty then two weeks later phoned me up and asked me to pay £700 it felt like the service manager was pressuring me to pay for for the wheels not very nice had to phone skoda uk to resolve the problem which they did.+ps the parts and sales people at sherlodge are very good people to deal with its just the service side that needs an upgrade.

I used sherledge 2 or 3 times, but found their pricing structure 'ambiguous'. With regards to workmanship, I had plugs incorrectly gapped and coilpack not correctly secured. I left it at that.

No experience with Beadles, apart from quick conversation with the showroom guys, which was relaxed and not pushy.

I have used Beadles for a couple of services. Found the guys on the counter very helpful especially when my car failed the mot due to a tyre and they didn't have one in stock and not being from the area thought I was stuffed. The guys gave me a couple of local places and directions and was told try them and if they can change the wheel just pop back on way home and will just issue an mot. Their help saved me a lot of hastle.

Wow, suddenly there seems to be more people in Medway! ;) ;)

I bought my car from Sherlodge, no problems with the sale. Issue over brake fluid change and interior condition - both resolved FOC and courtesy car whilst being done. Service cost was acceptable and Russ was happy to drop certain items on cost (e.g. pollen filter - costs a tenner and is 5 minutes to fit, not worth having done as part of the service itself, so I dropped it, saved the money and did it myself.)

They did the MOT too - no issues.

No complaints so far with them.

I bought my MKI Superb from a guy in Medway who had only ever used Sherlodge (they supplied the car and were the only dealer to have the car in their workshop 3 or 4 services - just over 60K)

Some filters were date stamped 2003 (on a 2004 car) so I assume they were factory fitted? the under tray was also held on by a couple of cable ties as 2 clips were missing, they do not inspire me to use them.

Popped into Beadles to try and get some warranty work done, stood at the service desk waiting to be acknowledged by the 3 (or 4) guys on the desk, fair play they were all on the phone, so I waited patiently, nearly 10 mins for the first guy to get off the phone, makes eye contact and proceeds to MAKE a phone call, I politely tried to explain that I was STILL waiting to be served, to which he replied he had a call to make.

As they were clearly to busy to take on new business I did us both a favour and left, I popped into Caffyns (Ashford) on the way home, was seen almost immediately and when I explained the warranty issues (badges corroding) he didn’t even want to see them but went to book me in for them to be replaced, he then said “actually do you have 30 mins spare now? we can do them whilst you wait if you like” I wasn’t expecting that but fair play to them I was driving away around 20 mins later with new badges fitted.

All my previous work and parts had been through Caffyns, I see no reason at all to change that for the forseable future.

Caffyns (Ashford) - 10/10

Beadles - could do MUCH better

Sherlodge - wouldn’t use them for servicing

The sales guys at Motorline (Canterbury) also get my vote on the couple of times we have gone there.

I use Motorline they're very good. A friend has used Beadles on several occasions and has been unhappy with the service. Got my mum's Octavia from Caffyns and they too were very good. Not used Sherlodge.

Seems to be quite a few around here, I live in Walderslade area, work in Gravesend so wave if you see me :)

Thanks for all the advice, still not sure but have a little while to go before needing the dealers at least.

Canterbury/Ashford is a bit far for me, unless I can drop car off on a Saturday and get a courtesy car.

I used Motorline in Canterbury for a service on my TSI Vrs.

I will never return there even though they are 10 minutes down the road.

I turned up at dealer to drop my car for 10K service as it opened as I needed to pick up a courtesy car and get to work in Gravesend.

I was the only customer and was left standing for 10 minutes while service staff had a chat and cup of tea and eventually a member of management came out and spoke to me then got them to serve me. I asked for the tyres to be swapped front to back and they wanted to charge me an hours labor (Beadles did it for free). Courtesy car was not where it should have been so waited another 20 minutes.

I was phoned at 1pm and told the car was ready and I picked it up at 5pm to find it unwashed or hoovered (service manager stated it had been done!!!!) and oil spit over engine. Greasy hand marks over the steering wheel.

I will not be returning.

I found Beadles to be very hit and miss when I first started using them. I think a lot of the issues were that they were a Nissan and Skoda dealers, so they had lots of customers in all at the same time. Work wise, I find them to be very good. We take Mrs Stig's Ferbi vRS there to be serviced due to it being on a "lease" plan and I can't complain about the standard of work. The service manager reads the reviews on here, so he knows about Briskoda and knows I'm a member....... There is a dealer review section on this forum folks.......

Beadles Skoda have moved to the former Audi showroom round the corner recently, so they have loads of space so I assume a seperate service centre....... Will wait and see if they are as good as they seem to be.

With regard to Shelodge, I've not been there for a few years, so can't realy comment on their current set up. I used them for servicing on my mk1 vRS and found them to be ok. I did have an issue with the tryes on my mk 1. Can't recall the full details, but I called them Sherbodge after that. I did buy my mk 2 from them, but Beadles opened shortly after, so I used them for servicing.

And just to throw a spaner in the works, I can reccommend a good VAG speciaist in Wrotham Heath if people want. They do provide a courtesy car if required. It's an old Golf last ime I used them, but it gets you from A to B.

hi A7788

if you ask they will collect your car and leave a courtesy car or you can collect your car on the way home.

Thumb up for Saunders Abbot in Sidcup. A small Family run business. Excellent customer focused service from these guys.

My only experience of Skoda is Sherlodge as they have sold me my last three Skodas, I have found their sales team second to none! I can say 99% of the time I have also been happy with their service too, its not been without some problems but Russ has cleared these up very quickly and professionally.

Beadles is my "local" (walking distance!) dealership - bought my Octavia from there in 2011, had a look at new cars from there and also used it for service and warranty work (both when it was shared with Nissan and now its a standalone dealership next door) - when shared with Nissan (who I feel were slightly busier, I didn't have a great experience with service to the point where I complained to Skoda UK, this was shortly before they moved next door and my dealings with the "new" dealership have been much more pleasant and relaxed - new aftersales manager Ian has been brought in since splitting from the Nissan building and he's a credit to the dealership, very hands on and makes you feel welcome and valued as a customer. When the car went in for warranty work, they had to keep the car for two days as the part didn't arrive in time, arranged for me to have a courtesy car without any issue and kept me fully up to date by phone throughout.

Sales-wise, bought the car when shared with Nissan - salesman wasn't pushy, didn't seem to know too much about the brand (he isn't there any more) but did us a good deal on the car. Since then, i've perused the sales area while waiting to collect my car, been approached by salesmen, but again not pushy and if you're not interested in purchasing they'll leave you alone.

I've never had any experience of Sherlodge so can't comment on them but I don't see any reason to take my business anywhere other than Beadles for sales or service.

Hope this helps.

Steve.

Yeah, they are also a possibility for me as well as I can then get a lift from the boss :)

I've used Sherlodge, Beadles and Motorline in Dartford. Motorline changed my cambelt and did a service for me, they actually undercut Sherlodge by about £300 for that work and it also included changing the water pump. Lee on the service desk is a top bloke.

Sherlodge are ok, I have bought all my Skoda's from them and they've done 90% of my servicing. They can be a be bit pricy when it comes to servicing/repairs and they have damamged parts of my interior trim whilst fixing a hill hold issue on my current car.

Beadles serviced my car once, but I wouldn't take it back to be honest, I wasn't over impressed.

Just my personal opinion, nothing else

Thank you - might look at Motorline Dartford as my boss lives opposite so can easily get to work and back etc.

I always use my local dealer - Adamsons in Deal, I have bought ( not brought  ) 5 Skodas from them & have all servicing done by them.

Service Dept is small, busy & polite

Always use motorline dartford as its near my office. No issues with them at all really. Had my Cambelt, water pump, brake fluid and aircon cleaned when i hit 60k. Couldn't beat their price anywhere in the area (indy or dealer). About £400 i think.

Also go to the motorline site and call them up and ask for a skoda loyalty club membership. Its free and you get 10% off parts and labour. Well worth it. Got £17 quid off my mates spare wheel kit for his vrs the other day just by showing them the key ring.
