Couple of questions....

Featured Replies

What oil does it need, gut feeling is 5W 30 or 5W 40..... please advise

Is the engine meant to look as though there should have some trim at the front, mine looks as though there is some thing missing?? Any pickies please would be helpfull..

Can it be changed from 10K annual service to 20K long life service?

Thanks folks.

5w-30 is the correct spec

Thought so, thanks.

Make sure it has VW 504.00 listed as one of the specs on the container.

A picture of your engine bay will help to understand if there is something missing, generally there is the large plastic engine cover and that's it...

Yes, it can be changed from 'fixed' (10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever is reached first) to 'variable' (up to 20,000 miles or 2 years approx.) but you'll need a dealer to do this or someone local with VCDS. This change makes the choice of oil even more important though.

The viscosity (5W-30, 5W-40 etc) does not tell the whole story.

Thats chuffing brilliant, thank you!! It does look as though the engine needs a cover on that front bit though don't it.... I'll wait till it has its next service before I get it changed to long life.

If youre not on long life service then 5W/40 is what is in it now. Thats assuming you have the TSI.

Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
