Hybrid Help

Featured Replies

Right can anyone guide me on what I need to get to make my vRS hybrid etc.. I know I need a turbo that has been converted to hybrid spec so is that still at 130bhp turbo with better internals or a 150bhp turbo ?? also I have smf conversion already done, anything else ?? thanks

Best of getting yourself a FMIC also

FMIC is a must.

You can get a hybrid PD130 (200-210bhp) or hybrid PD150 (220-240bhp)

I bought a FMIC just not fitted yet. So I really wanna aim for 240.. PD150 hybrid is what I need then.

Needs an old pd150 to be exchanged with that

Is that any good ? Plus will anything need to be done to the intake/ sensors ?

some people run with standard air filter plus PD160 intake. Others have a panel filter as well. I run with the Jabbasport cone in the box.

Sensors are fine.

A brand new hybrid will set you back over £1,000

Just noticed they do this as well for £900 - difference between the two below.

Turbo benefits from Turbo Dynamics own design billet aluminium compressor wheel. Not only does billet offer significantly improved strength and durability over the original cast aluminium wheels if used correctly the material can be used to make the wheel lighter. A lighter compressor wheel will spool quicker allowing for better response from the turbocharger meaning a reduction in turbo lag. The billet aluminium compressor wheels are upto 20% lighter than the originally used cast items.

Not bad £1,920 inc VAT fully fitted and mapped.

£900 turbo

£180 decat downpipe

£400 mapping

£48 4 bar map sensor

£96 oil feed pipes

£30 oil+ oil filter

total £1,654

fitting is then only £266

/\ pointless as no fmic

For 2k I'd maybe start looking at other cars. Not to say i dont like/wanted a hybrid fabia.

Haha, yeah it's budget because half the kit is missing to make the power for any length of time Bit cheeky really.

I asked them regarding the difference in figure's for power between there tubular manifold and the cast one, there reply was the turbo spools up maybe 200rpm sooner with the tubular one, be nice to see actual dyno figures to see if it restricts things more so than spool up.

/\ pointless as no fmic

You'd have to add an FMIC either way, so was not put in the equation

Yeah, but you have to add a FMIC if you do their way or another way....

But they are selling that as a 230bhp kit. It won't sustain that power without a fmic. That's like me selling a fmic advertised as making 230bhp, then saying you need the turbo to go with it. It wouldn't be a issue if it was sold as what it is, a turbo & mapping.

So at what stage is a 4BAR map sensor needed? for 230bhp?

Plus the SMF flywheel and uprated clutch to go with that kit unless you have one already then it's very costly.

dear do then if am honest.. got smf and clutch already fitted, fmic not fitted yet, hybrid, remap and labour, gonna be talking £1600 min really :( best get saving again

So at what stage is a 4BAR map sensor needed? for 230bhp?

when you want to run more than 29psi of boost?

/\ pointless as no fmic

he has a FMIC waiting to be fitted and has already done the clutch. so not pointless at all

when you want to run more than 29psi of boost?

Do you have to run these Turbos at that higher psi to reach the power?!

Nope! 29/30psi is the MAX a hybrid 150 can push anyways! And thats maxing it!

Mmm I was wondering if any need for the 4 bar map sensor? Kit seems ok for the money. As mentioned you need to be running a FMIC for sure.

Their tubular manifolds do look good also.

I'm undecided on to go with a kit like above or make my own up eg buy all the hardware separately.

Anybody on here run the above kit? How does it perform/feel on the road?

Nope! 29/30psi is the MAX a hybrid 150 can push anyways! And thats maxing it!

I was talking about the GTB thing in the link. My hybrid is well under 30psi & making the power no issues. Which is why I'm so suprised the larger turbo needs even more boost.
