Hopefully putting a deposit down- Now sat on the drive!

Featured Replies

Went to look at a used Octavia 1.9 PD DSG Elegance today.

Very impressed.

2007 with 20,283 miles on the clock. Almost like new. Couple of stone chips etc they will sort out.

Full service history and it's due a cambelt which they will do before hand.

Ringing in the morning to hopefully finalise the deal.

Plans are:

Auto light switch fitment (already has the sensor and this should then allow coming home/leaving home lights to be activated)

HID bulbs

Rear LED number plate bulbs (do they need to be canbus?)

Some VCDS tweaks (auto locking not even enabled)

We can probably cope with the drop in power but if not a remap may be sought in the future.

Any suggestions welcomed.

Phil

Ask them to change the water pump at the same that they do the cam belt.

Ah yes.

Good point. I will make sure they do that.

That's low milege for a 5 year old car - an average of only 4,000 miles a year.

In my experience an older car that has been used regularly makes for a much better car for long term reliability than a car that's been stood / used for mainly short journey's.

I hope you aren't paying a premium for the mileage?

Make sure they fit a full cambelt kit (rollers, tensioners and new expansion bolts) rather than just the belt.

No not paying a premium for the mileage.

The cost is in line with other cars of similar mileage and age etc. Also seems good in comparison to some other cars with higher mileage.

Will make sure they do the job properly.

I'm sure you'll bed some miles into it! What colour combo or kit have you got on the elegance?

You'll love the DSG! :)

Happy to getting back into a Skoda again? The Octavia was a massive jump in refinement from the Fabia!!! So happy I made that move! :)

Don't get me wrong I loved my Furbies! But the Octavia is another level! :D

It's a dark kind of grey metallic. Don't know what it's called.

Just the standard Elegance trim I think:

16" alloys, fogs, rear PDC, rain sensitive wipers, dual zone climate, auto dimming mirror, 6 disc changer, stream stereo etc etc.

The box is very nice and incredibly smooth. Sven couldn't believe how smooth it was and said he was checking the revs to see if had actually changed gear.

The build quality of our cordoba is shocking really. We are really disappointed with it really.

Need to cut our losses while its actually worth something and before everything else breaks on it.

Not sure my vag com or vds pro cable will work on the Octavia. Might have to visit a friendly local member with VCDS for my tweaking.

Congratulations!

That's DM Keith in York, please keep it mint and don't get it serviced there!

Best colour for an Octavia B) , I hope it serves you well

Matthew

Looks very nice, enjoy.

Don't fancy an MFD2 sat nav unit to put in it do you? With a silver surround to match? :)

Or a mount for phone etc that attaches on a screw of the climatronic unit?.

Shameless selling tactic lol.

I will be taking very good care of it and taking Sven out to practice parking etc so as to avoid any scrapes!

I do not plan on taking to be serviced there. I will use an independant garage for that. I assum as long as I have it serviced at a garage that is VAT registered the warranty will remain intact.

Depends what you are looking for it. Also the dash is black. Do I need to the surround or will it fit straight in place of the stream unit?

What doe the phone mount look like?

Also folks what are my options for bluetooth.

I have an iO play unit that has standard ISO connections on but assume the stream is quadlock and I'd also need to pick up a switched live form somewhere?

Ah right.

I have a mount for my phone but not sure how I would attach it neatly to that. I like to have it up on the windscreen on the drivers side anyway.

You got a price in mind for the MFD? PM me if you like.

Phil

That's graphite grey, should you need to know. I had one that colour. I'd be looking for a bolero too, as an upgrade to the stereo.

Good !

Leave it a year until warranty is up then remap it and rear ARB job done :)

Remap here too. Has transformed by pd105 with no difference in mpg but better pick up. Sounds like you got a good one, enjoy and try not to spend too much on it ;)

Glad you're pleased Phil. Great choice!

We need more piccies!

We're very pleased. A whole different league to the Fabia/Ibiza/Polo platform and the build quality compared to the Seat is very very good.

I know. Might give it a wash on Saturday morning and get some pics. There should also be some from the Malthouse meet of it.

That's why I bought one ;)

It's a good engine and not as noisy as some reports would have you believe. My 55reg Fabia has the 1.9 PD diesel engine. I've always used the correct PD oil and it's covered 110k miles faultlessly, burning no oil between oil changes.
