There's a hidden screw before you pull too hard!

To get that out you need to remove the stereo fascia, the gear stick surround (lift up), the ashtray (pull first bit out then two torx screws), the screw on the panel itself and a screw inside under the stereo.

The panel then will slide forward (it's also attached with Velcro inside) and then down and out.

Getting it back is a fiddle but not too hard except the last screw (on the outside in the footwell) which never seems to want to find its hole (and its easy to lose the clip it screws into).

It would probably be easier to remove the panel / trim under the steering wheel / above driver's feet and take a look from there.

Or remove the radio unit and look down from there.

That panel can be a pain in the :swear:

Great, thanks for that. thought it wouldnt shift. Looks like when work was done previously, a couple of the clips have been broken anyway, so dont want to do any more damage

I'd go down the route of removing the stereo and if needed the climatronic bit. All quite easy too

I think thats the way i'll go. The ashtray clips in and the fascia around the stereo clips off. i reckon i can prob find my way in. The box appears to be below the stereo anyway. There isnt any other boxes that would be loose under there is there, like an immobiliser or something?

Shouldn't be anything untoward down there. The heating controls are held in with 4 torx screws (T20 I think) and there's 3 connectors that unclip. Loads of room in there for stuff. (I've got my MDI loom tucked in there.

See point #12

Haha I almost quoted point #12 in my comment. Seriously though, how's I work? I can't be arsedto check ;)

According to my handbook p.37

The interior monitor ,,,,,are switched on again automatically the next time the car is locked.

Thanks. Will stop me having to constantly reset it when I'm paying for petrol and leave littlun in the car.......

What rainbow said, I have my parrot module housed in the gap behind the climatronic module

Don't you just love it when people can't be @rsed to read their manual?? And failing that, the manuals are all online and on here.

He's just forgotten when he received lots of advice from members on here and questioned it over and over, then found out it was true!

I admit it wasn't (all) in the manual... But it was on Google...

Ashtray out in my lunchbreak. Managed to manoeuvre my hand in and reach the box. 'bury technologies', which Google says does handsfee and infotainment systems. Sadly some wires joined and some cut, so I guess parts have been removed.

Thanks for all your help, looks like I will need to save up and get one fitted.

Ah, but there WERE lots of conflicting sources. It only ended up that one side was correct after all and you just happened to be on it, ya smug bugger. ;)

Jamie, most handsfree kits are pretty cheap these days and some offer wireless music too
